I’m in a T2 strategy house (do mix of corp strategy and CDDs) and am interested to move into PE/VC or IB in the future. I know I’m in an entry level position but when do people start looking to move across (i.e manager and above?) Is it best trying to go to MBB first? What are qualities/experiences that an experienced Consultant should aim to include when applying for a more senior position (e.g., Senior Associate, Manager)?

More specifically, are hiring managers looking for stats heavy (i.e., Increased user adoption for newly implemented application by 10% through removal of training roadblocks) or more generalized (i.e., Identified training roadblock and devised solutions which increased user participation in training)?

How do you identify “burnout?” Pre-MBA, I used to be a high performer at my old job, but now since I have started my Consulting role post-MBA (after 2 years of a mostly remote MBA) I am really, really struggling. Not only have I been making a lot of stupid mistakes, but I have also been waking up dreading going to work, hating myself and in general really disliking the job. I want to quit and move back in with my parents. Is this burnout? Could my career recover if I did nothing for a few years?

Should I include a cover letter when submitting an application? I’ve heard lots of hiring managers often don’t even look at cover letters anymore. Anyone have experience with not submitting and still getting an offer?

How is the bench these days in Deloitte Cyber? Seriously thinking of going back after being gone a year. Looking at Manager or SplM. Wasn’t unhappy when I left, but the position I took here seemed very promising. It’s not what I had been sold and way worse then Deloitte. I was surrounded by good people at Deloitte.

I’m thinking of applying to business school but worried I won’t have time to get a solid letter of rec if next years app is due in September. If I take this new role, I’d get a 50% comp increase and more responsibility. I have 4 YOE and have worked at my organization for 1.5 years. Should I take the money or just stay here and get the rec?

Applied to deloitte on Job posting and had partner referral. Partner sent me a link I added CV and cover letter on my own and (think) I applied.

Then got no emailing saying thank you for applying and 3 days later got email saying "thank you fpr interest but job posting has unfortunately closed" WTF
Then I go online and see the same job posted with different Job ID like WTf and new date of posting.
Now do I bug partner on this. Or assume my application went and but they are still searching.(1/2)

I graduated this Spring with an MS in Finance & am an international student with limited unemployment days. I am wondering which consulting companies are currently actively hiring.

Situation: parent of young kids. 100% wfh role. AmazingWLB. Ok comp (210) - dislike my boss.

Op 1: switch to new role in company. Same comp. Much better job & boss. Promo in next 2 years unlikely. (Industry)

Op 2: back to consulting. Minimum 50% bump, max 100%. Some travel. WLB not great. Like the people much better.

Love wlb and remote with op 1 but comp and how it sets my family up very enticing in op 2. What to do..

A couple of months ago I left consulting for a Director-level position with a team of five people (all new hires). About a week ago one of my employees (project lead) told me they feel overwhelmed by work and cannot deliver on the level they’ve been hired for. We’re talking about “downgrading” them one rank to allow for future growth into the role, but curious to hear if anyone had a similar situation and how you dealt with it?
