Arnold & Porter Discussions
Arnold & Porter Not matching Cravath. What is happening? Do we think they’ve decided not to match or is this just a hiccup? Do we expect more firms even in the V50 to not match?
Thoughts on Arnold & Porter or Dechert for Investment Management/Funds practice? Just received lateral offers for both and trying to make as informed of a decision as possible. Also interested to …

Anyone have people who work for clients who are either young or inexperienced and treat you as outside counsel like you’re their bitch...except 90% of the time they have no clue what they are doing?

Anyone know what the sales job titles mean at ADP ?
From what I understand
Associate District Manager = SMB Account Executive
District Manager = Senior SMB AE???
Mid Market AE = true mid market AE/super high up AE??
I genuinely have no clue, any clarification would be greatly appreciated @adp
Biglaw mid/senior levels who work in large teams on big deals (corporate side, specifically asset management/funds): what are your daily/weekly hours like? At my current job, it’s just me + one partner on virtually everything. I’m working 14-16 hours a day consistently and have taken only a handful of weekend days off in the past six months. I can’t help but think that being on an actual team would necessarily be better, but I wonder if it’ll just be another form of servitude.
I am in sixth year at a top firm in Toronto. I’m considering lateraling to another firm that does very similar work to what I’m currently doing, essentially because I strongly dislike the culture at my current firm. If you have lateraled for a culture-related issue, what do you wish you had asked before signing? Do you think there is a way to truly suss out culture before working somewhere? I have several law school classmates at this new firm so will obv ask them.

ERC HR Specialist for Amazon … what level is this at Amazon and what’s the pay and is this considered at Corporate level ?
Giving my notice next week. I’m likely going to be taking a few clients with me (their choice). How do I transition the case to my new firm? Do I need to file something? And after I’m at my new firm do I reach out to the old one to get the file?
Has anyone self- trained for SPHR or SHRM? Without purchasing the SHRM study guide? How did you decide between SPHR or SHRM SCP?
I’d like to be prepared for the initial phone screen convo, which will only last 20-30 minutes. The JD shows the salary range as 110-130(USD) commensurate with experience, but I’m happy to land anywhere in that range—yet I don’t think it’s good to disclose that. How can I tactfully still talk to the recruiter about landing closer to 130? Not trying to be greedy, but certainly aiming high!
Anyone else work in ID/litigation with high billable targets, plus a working spouse and young children? Any time management tips and examples? Been doing this over a year now and feeling like it may not be sustainable if I actually want to spend time with my family and not choose between that or sleep. Seems like burnout is setting in.
Is it too much to reach out to my firm’s womens initiative and ask if the firm or womens initiative plans to make a statement about yesterdays decision?
Has anyone bought/ done the HRCI Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management? I already have my PHR, but I’m looking to gain more knowledge/skills and beef up my resume. Is it worth doing? The course is $239 and you get 12 Recert credits with it.

Is Human Resources just a make work job for people who are otherwise incapable of doing anything? Seems like something you'd see in the late Soviet Union, except this is somehow funded by private sector employers
Thinking about buying some physical assets to ride out inflation instead of having money sitting in bank losing value. I like safe bets and things that have value - so precious metals seems like obvious choice. Anything else? Can anyone offer guidance on buying physical gold?
During the voluntary disclosures when applying, what exactly will they use the information (I.e gender, military service, disabilities, etc) for if not for hiring?
Signed a lease for a Manhattan studio. Was supposed to move in Monday if building approved me, but agents (Compass) are not responding to my emails so I have no idea if it’s still happening. I already paid deposit and first months rent ~2 weeks ago.

Hi all—sorry this might be a bit personal or tmi, but I started big law about a year ago, which has been incredibly stressful etc. since then, I’ve noticed that my cycle has gone haywire, I miss periods or getting multiple the same month, there’s just no predictability anymore. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this before? Does it get better/does your body adjust to the stress or will this just be my life now?
Let's say that you disagree with an MD. How do you handle it? Do you keep it to yourself or voice your opinion?
What's the main difference between working at a practice area specific boutique and big law?
