PSA/rant: If you are sick, please stay home and do not go into the office!! Surprised that this even has to be said. Please do not try to be a martyr/hero by coming in - no one’s job is important enough to come in and get everyone sick (esp before Labor Day weekend!). And it’s so selfish to come in and risk getting everyone sick because you want face time with the boss.

Curious, what’s the best business/sales advice you’ve received lately?

Anyone else feel insulted when a recruiter reaches out to you about a lower role. Not to say that those roles are beneath me but I’ve worked so hard to get at my level and a random recruiter reaches out to me about a payroll clerk role. Ughhhh

Is it possible to make a million in any sales position? I see so many classes and books on how to be a millionaire by selling. Seems like BS.

I was very successful as an internaional sales exec at a startup for 15 years before we were bought by a large publicly traded company. The culture shift was dramatic, as was the way that I was expected to work. I was laid off a tortuous 3 years after the buyout.

While I was in some ways relieved (put me out of my misery!) I spiralled pretty hard and after a while started working PT jobs, gig type stuff, etc. while I figured things out, and healed from burnout.

Any advice on passing the SHRM exam the first time around?

I’ve try to decide if I should pursue my career in a government or city job. Does anyone know which is better a career in a private sector or a government job ?

I just joined a company, I liked the work as per JD, but when I entered the team, I feel there is not much to learn and grow in that particular team. There are different teams in the department in which I am hired. Can I ask the AVP of department to shift me in another team of same department, I have joined the organization 1 week ago, shall I talk to my TL before telling AVP or should not say at all. Billable hour question: is anyone else just completely incapable of keeping up with your time? I’ve been an attorney for 3 years now and tried everything I can think of to figure this out but I just can’t do it. It’s the same thing at the end of every month - staying up late entering in an entire month of time. Luckily most clients I work for are flat fee/percentage based but I still feel like a failure for not being able to do this thing that seemingly every other lawyer can do. Any tips?

How do you approach the initial conversation with your doctor? I have taken a variety of both anti anxiety and anti depressants. Nothing works. I’ve been reading online and in this bowl, and a lot of ADHD symptoms really resonate with me. They have for a long time, frankly, but I couldn’t get my former provider to take me seriously when I was in college/law school.
