Hello! Luckily I have landed an Administrative Support Full Time job in a top university in Canada!
I’m aiming to grow as a HR professional & want to see myself as an HR expert!
I’ve come from a completely different background ( healthcare) but I have always tried to have transferable skills like interpersonal, relationship building skills, public speaking etc.
My question is by accepting this job ( administrative clerk ) am I taking the right step towards HR expert in long term?
Recruiters!! Is reaching out to the recruiter who organised the interviews after a few days (since no feedback was given as of yet) a sign of desperation? And would that affect salary negotiations? Asking for a friend !
Is there any easy way to bill for emails? At the end of each month I spend way too much time trying to collect the 0.1s from the month. I go day by day with my emails, sent then received. It’s so boring and time consuming but I have never known an easier way (aside from entering emails daily, but I find that doesn’t work either because if you get multiple emails on a case in a day, you’d have to keep editing the entry.) F billable hours
Can a federal/state regulation/legislation legally discriminate against corporations? For example, a shift in policy that ends up affecting one corporation’s business significantly more than other corporations. Or are equal protection rights restricted to natural persons only? I feel like this question was discussed in my Con Law classes, but I just can’t recall the relevant SCOTUS decision.
I have started my career in SaaS sales and currently work ex of just 1.5 years. I'm confused that to grow, should I start searching for an SDR role in an early stage startup or look for an MNC? I feel my growth in current role has been shunted and going nowhere
Anyone have people who work for clients who are either young or inexperienced and treat you as outside counsel like you’re their bitch...except 90% of the time they have no clue what they are doing?
I was part of the tech layoffs over the past couple of weeks. I have an opportunity to go back in house or back to a law firm. Both are great opportunities and comparable comp. Pro of law firm - stability (less likely to be laid off). Pro of in house - no billable hours. Should I ride out the recession at a law firm until things settle down or take the risk and go back to in house?
What is a competitive OTE for first time Director of Enterprise Sales? 15 yoe. Enterprise AE for the last 9ish years. Also a bit concerned about overall income. Last 3+ years have been very good. Part of me worries that overall money will go down while work level will go up significantly. Any guidance from those who have gone through this appreciated.
Ready to pull the plug - I think I want to try being a recruiter. I’d love to hear others’ experiences transitioning and how you like it now. Also if you’re able to make similar to your big law pay (junior associate level). You always see people saying they are doing crazy well, but I have to imagine that’s not everyone. Any pitfalls to watch for? Advice on finding such a job and picking a good recruiting firm?
How do you "draft"? 3rd yr m&a assoc. here asked to take a first crack at a purchase agreement. I've been given a precedent from a similar deal with same client. Where the hell do I go from here?!
Hey! Is there any hiring managers looking for HR / Talent Acquisition candidates. I have a MBA in HRM, 2 years experience within HR, was on track to become an HRBP at Amazon but chose to go into to Talent Acquisition due to a toxic work environment. I’m looking for a new role and would to speak with someone regarding new opportunities or even to discuss some pointer on how to pivot into a new role!
I’m 67 yo- practiced solo since ‘94 and in a small local office since 2016 with cheap cheap rent. Primarily remote from home for last 2 yrs. Hubby retired this year and my work schedule totally changed with us having breakfast and other stuff until noon. In fact, my enthusiasm to work has petered out. Also office/insurance costs eat up most if not all income. Trying to figure out about how long to do this semi-retirement. Anyone else been in this situation? Kind of hard to say I’m done.
What’s the most you’ve ever billed on vacation?

Anyone know what bonuses are like at Faegre Drinker? Understand they do not pay market compensation, but curious how bonuses compare to NY market rate?
I have a rough time at work for some reason I can perform really well for short periods of time but as soon as I know I'm doing okay I get lazy again, I feel like my life is just never going to be complete and it's going to be as empty as it is now forever. I don't want to lose my job but honestly it's hard to see the point in going forward beyond not being on the street. No essential vitality animates me I just learned forward like some sort of unwieldy machine.
Let's keep this handy!

I work in an org where am not valued. I have been there for a couple of years. I bring good exp and qualification on board, but my experience in this org has smeared my self esteem and has discouraged me from putting in my all. I am traumatized from this exp and I have lost confidence in myself. I sometimes remember how I have been treated or spoken to and I literally tremble. Other things I do outside of my org are top notch and I get compliments. I need advice on rebranding or moving forward.
