Junior attorney at a small firm. As someone interested in partnership, I want to know how much the partners are making. Reasonable? How do I figure that out?
Hey, has anyone heard of w UK company called Adsmith? And in terms of a sales job in paid marketing - what’s it like? I have been interviewing with them.
What are your honest thoughts on cover letters - are they outdated, or even relevant at this point? Do you look at them?
Hey fellow attorneys! I am a second year attorney who has recently accepted a job within a firm that I am absolutely ecstatic about. However, my first year of practice was highly supervised and I was given no cases of my own (Always worked the cases with major supervision and micromanaging by partners in my previous firm). I am worried about being able to do solo cases individually and whether I know enough to be in charge of cases. Anyone else experienced this? Or have any advice? Thank you!
Currently, I manage one practice group in my office, but practice in several areas. I’m having a meeting Monday with firm leadership about transitioning to manage the entire office. It’s the firm’s only office in the state. I’ll have 1 LA, 3 Paras, 4 associates, 1 partner to manage. We continue to grow and will hire more. It’s another step on my path to equity partnership. Any recommendations on what to ask during the meeting? Salary? Perks? Red flags? Mid-Atlantic regional firm, 120 attorneys.

If you ever feel your life is pointless tonight I’m using my 300k law degree to redact 5 year olds names from their kindergarten school work.
Partner constantly produces work with grammatical errors, typos, run on sentences, etc. She’s hyper-aggressive about minor changes to my work. Suggestions in handling this?
Need advice on side hustles and PT gigs. I work FT, my wife runs her own business PT while caring for our kids, and we are STILL living paycheck to paycheck. Combined we make over $80k/yr, but it's still tight. My wife is saying she can go back to work FT and shut down her biz, but a) I know this would make her unhappy, b) we want to prioritize our time with our kids before they start going to school, and c) we already pay for PT daycare and it's EXPENSIVE. FT is outrageous. Thoughts?
Any insight on what it's like to work at Plaid?
Does anyone here practice cannabis law? How candid are you when filing federal documents (i.e. EIN for the entity)? Is there an issue with a company disclosing that it’s a cannabis business or should the activities of the business be described in broader terms?
Has anyone transitioned from direct sales to indirect (channel, solutions consulting, etc.)? I’m an Enterprise AM currently (6+ years of total closing experience in SaaS) but looking to make a change sometime in the next 18-24 months. Certainly expecting to sacrifice financial upside but growing tired of the grind.
There’s a small vacant lot for sale that I want. It’s been available for a while because an alley has encroached on it for years. Anyone dealt with property line disputes with a city?
Can a TX law firm be formed as an LLC under another state and operate within TX with practically no ties to the other state? Or does the firm need be formed as a TX PLLC?
How do other women in sales deal with leaving their family for work trips? I've been in sales a long time but now I have a partner and an infant. My partner gets frustrated when I have to leave because we share all of the parental duties equally when I'm home and me leaving is very distruptive. How do others deal with this?
For those in healthcare, with the vaccine mandate, are you placing an acknowledgement in the application process- aside from the carers landing page?

Happy Tuesday! I’m looking to make more connections in HR and was wondering if anyone would like to connect on LinkedIn? I would love to speak to some HR managers or HRBPs that wouldn’t mind sharing your journey/career path with me. My email is email@example.com and name is Helen Alston on LinkedIn 😊

First year here. Any tips for improving confidence? I feel good about my research / writing skills, but have anxiety / can’t think clearly when actually talking to partners about my work.
How long are hiring managers typically willing to wait after they've extended an offer?
Currently midway through the interview process for another role and unsure when a decision will be made.
ZS 🐠 - I have 3 YOE in LS consulting, currently a C and was up for SC this year but promos were rejected across my entire group. Looking at some roles at ZS and curious what level would be reasonable for me to “lateral” to given I’m performing as an SC but my job title is still C 😒. Bonus points if you have insights into the value & access group (WLB, comp, projects, hate your peers, etc.). Thanks!
What are typical hourly billable rates from big 4 for external audit services by role? New York or California.
So, I got through to final stages at a management consultancy where they all ‘loved me’ apparently. Job being advertised at £50-70k, they said I have potential & if they do want to offer me a role (within 2 wks as snr mgt team all on holiday wtf) would be a starting salary of £45k with salary increases (timeline of this increase tbd) in accordance with my performance. They’ve tried recruiting internally but can’t even get anyone past the first round. I feel like rejecting on principle! Thoughts?
Low billable, low pressure work in patent lit, tech trans or privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a patent litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Just feeling the burn out; 2000 hours of billables a year just isn’t sustainable for me long term. Money isn’t a huge issue.
Just put in my order for a G80 M3 (base with the manual). The grill is…not great, but for 85K there’s really nothing that compares that has a manual transmission and can carry two car seats in the back. Plus hard to beat 0.9% financing.
Eric, I see a lot of partners in my group do not have a personal life that I consider ideal. They’re good people just no time for personal life. How did you maintain yours? When is it ok to push back?

What types of roles in pharma are good fits for former consultants, outside of the internal consulting teams? What’s the career path like if you enter pharma after 2/3 yes at MBB post-MBA?
Who’s seen rethinks blatant rip off of the classic wind ad? It’s sooooooooo similar except that the tall guy in black causing ruckus is bad wifi instead of the wind. Was Aaron on vacation or something?
Sorry, is someone on mute?
