If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down

Anyone been fired for low performance as a young lawyer? How did you deal with it and move on?
Is reading through Fishbowl billable time?
Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
Hi Everyone! I’m torn between which HR certification to pursue (SHRM-SCP or SPHR). Which one would you recommend and why?
Anyone here work at PwC in North America? Curious about the work culture and if there's anything to watch out for
Anyone ever made the move from a smaller market with great work-life balance to a bigger market with poor work life balance in order to do more sophisticated work/more money? Currently only required to bill 1800, but I’m so sick of these lower middle market deals with sketchy clients and solo-practitioner opposing counsel.
Any tips on how best to draft an email asking for work from a partner who I haven’t worked with and who doesn’t know me? I’d like to get on their matters and want to craft an email that would actually get them to respond and be interested in giving me the work (as opposed to just acknowledging my interest and forgetting about it the next day).
Can we stop attaching unpublished cases yet?
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
I’m planning to buy the study materials for the SHRM-CP certificate through Amazon. What are the best ones to obtain?
How much nonbillable time is too much? I’m a second associate at a midsized firm and I have 30-50 non billable hours each month. An associate at another firm told me this was really high. Thoughts?
Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
So, I'm really curious, for those of us who aren't essential workers, how are you handling return to work? Phases? 50% capacity? Self Identifying disclosures? Sanitization stations?
How many billable hours did you record in March? I had to get an early start on quarantine because a co-worker tested positive for COVID-19. So, I’ll start, 155.
Got promoted effective 7/1 but am leaving the firm with a start date of 7/7. When should I put in my two weeks? Would like vacation balance paid out at higher salary.
Folks - need your advice. My spouse came to the US on h4. She did COS to H1b & has been working for the past 1.5 years. She has not got her stamping done yet. She does not want to work anymore. Can she go out of the county & get a H4 visa again? Will her current H1b status be an issue? Please advise
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?

I’m in tech consulting but truly a generalist since I’ve been on a wide array of projects and IMO I have no discernible skills. I want to find a different job soon. I’m sick of consulting and the asshole clients - but I feel like I have no options! I hear I can go industry, but I’m not sure what that would look like for me. Anyone made a career move out of consulting? Tips? What did/does it look like for you?
Odd question, but I’m starting a new job in a few days. Am I able to use the private medical insurance at my new company straight away? Or do I have to wait for probation period to finish?
My mother in law had a flight today from London Heathrow to Boston, which was delayed for 3hrs 13min. She said they said it was due to mechanical issues. Are we entitled to compensation?
BAH: did anyone get their 401k match yet? I am not eligible for the match since I started in May?
Has anyone on here been hired straight out of a coding boot camp and into a software engineering role?
Help? I returned from maternity leave this week and it’s killing me to hear kiddo cry in the house while I work. I know baby is fine- dad does a stellar job, but I just hurt to hear him at all. 😣
Audiobook recommendations? Currently listening to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck and I’m enjoying it, but I’d also be open to listening to novels aside from self help books.
I'm not on PTO today but I'm not logging on or replying to any emails. I'll face whatever consequences come Monday.

Anybody in DFW area looking to move to industry? I took a Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting role last summer with a PE-owned company that has 25 operating BUs (including a few abroad) and $1B in annual revenue. I am looking to add a heavy senior to my team and I’d prefer at least 4 years of PA audit experience. We are WFH through the end of the year. Please DM if interested or pass along to somebody that may be.
