160k bass for in-house with 3 years of experience is on the 75th percentile even for SF-Bay Area. It is likely you were at the high end of comp targets for Phoenix and coming in at the 30th - 50th percentile in SLC.
That sounds incredibly low
I'm in SLC. The regional firms are starting first years at 125k to 130k, so I would take another look at who you are talking to. Likely not truly the most prominent firms.
That absolutely sounds low. 30th percentile is low. SLC won’t pay big city prices but still.
That's....bizarre. As someone else noted, don't expect the same scale as larger markets. But I just checked NALP and several SLC firms are on there and each one's *starting* salary is higher than what you reference.
