I’m in an entertainment law practice in a HCOL area at a mid/large firm and made $235K as a third year. I’d expect somewhat below that at a boutique, though maybe some talent shops have premium salaries?
Appreciate the data point. I'm currently at sub 100K while knowing we have a few heavy hitters in our client list. I believe you're right though in that some talent shops will pay a premium, so it sounds like it's definitely a firm problem I'm having.
What do you currently make?
Currently at 95K after a raise last year
At boutiques I have seen a wide range of salaries - from $40K to mid six figures. Depends on the clients, your book (if any) and so on.
The lower end salaries are firms who need bodies to do the work. The higher ones want you bringing it in. If you're at a lower end firm, they're not going to reward you for bringing a new client to the firm.
Happy to chat off line if you like.
