I honestly don’t care what anyone says, majority of folks in consulting are faking it till they make it. We all know enough to make well informed “guesses” in a lot of situations, that usually tend to stick. It’s a lot more prevalent than folks like to admit, we all give the “best” answer and hope it sticks and that’s a fact.
This makes me feel so good tbh
Whoa. Shots fired (at yourself). Why do feel that way? What evidence do you have to support this hypothesis? Are you on the beach a lot?
Don’t worry, that’s how I’ve felt for the past two years, and guess what I recently got promoted 😁... so keep on keeping on until someone says otherwise. I’m sure the moment you really screw up you’ll hear about it lol...
I spent 4 years in strategy, felt like I was faking it and making it up just because it made sense every single day... it was bloody exhausting...
As someone considering a transition like yours,
Why did you transfer, and were your expectations met?
Sure thing!!!
Used to read up ex client news, earnings etc to see if the strategy was making any impact. TBH our clients don’t live or die by our work. And other firms come in to drilldown and realign.
How do you know you’ll be laid off?
I don’t haha I just meant like I’m just gonna keep pretending I know what I’m doing until someone tells me I’m wrong and I get laid off or fired
“Fake it till you make it” and then you get stuck in that character you’re playing. Soon enough anti-depressant pills, alcoholism, and looney bin in crazy ward awaits you
Think health over everything else. If you have to fake it till you make it, you’re doing yourself a disservice
