6 week update coming off Vyvanse.

1. Mental clarity: feel great, no anxiety, my memory feels like its better, I’m less irritable.

2. Focus: I’ve put some more structure to my day and that has helped. When I feel like I’m getting off track or doom scrolling during the day when I should be working in between meetings, I recognize it & allow it for 5 mins. Kind of like a timed game with yourself. Then back to work.

I’m not on that specific medication, but wanted to put my two cents in about the weight gain thing. Something I’m starting to see myself, and realizing that I need to figure out how to eat again. Being hungry a lot was not something I had been used to, and trying to figure that out before it becomes another issue.

3. I actually eat lunch now and take a 10-15 min walk in the afternoon outside which I think has also helped my focus. When I was on the meds I could sit at my desk for 12 hours without getting up.

4. Overall health: my weight has gone up. I was using the medication as a dual prescription for both adhd and binge eating, so working with doctors on the latter now. This could also just be that now I’m eating like a normal person and before I was eating like a bird on the meds.

My mom is mid-50s and has started having what appear to be mini blackouts. Her face contorts like she is laughing or crying, and she is unresponsive for 5-10 seconds. When we ask her what is wrong, she has no idea what we are talking about and no memory of the event.

Any idea what this might be or how to even begin the diagnostics?

How does one most effectively make the transition into management from an Individual Contributor?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

Had my 1:1 with my People Lead yesterday to prepare for talent discussions. Said I had a great year - but need to work on being consistent. She said when I’m engaged it’s great but need to keep it going. I’ve mentioned my ADHD previously but I’m sure she doesn’t know all the components of what that means. We’ve had org issues - no clear role descriptions or expectations. Yes I do have a hard time staying engaged (and I’m medicated - Vyvance in the am, dextroamphetamine at noon). Thoughts?

Here is my current cocktail: Caffeine 400mg (200 when I wake up then another 200 when I go to the gym 30 minutes later), Modafinil 150, Bupropian XL 150. I used to take adderall but it made me crazy for lack of a better word. Looking to add a stimulant for focus. Suggestions? Currently deciding between Ritalin and Vyvanse. Also, I know I’m a stim junkie I was taking adderall for 20 years so my tolerance is pretty high. Please keep it positive and helpful thanks
