Accounting role where you work alone? Are there any of these that aren't simple AP or AR jobs and pay $160k+? I love being left alone to work independently without others, but seems almost all accounting roles involve having to work with others, work on teams, manage others, etc. I want to leave FAAS but can't seem to find any other job that interests me without having to take a pay cut..

There are very few jobs you don’t need to coordinate with others that pay well, usually the person who doesn’t have to coordinate isn’t that important

Actually can’t really think of any

I don't think a role like this exists in accounting. You don't really start making money in the business until you are either client facing or are a force multiplier.

What job could you do in isolation that a firm could bill $500K for?

Ya, none lol

Maybe go learn CS

Right there with you OP.

Starting to feel like golden handcuffs 😭

I’d like input!

I am currently a charge nurse and am in a “Pathway to Leadership Program” that will come with promotions into leadership/administration. I am concerned that going through the leadership ladder will lead to a lot of politics.

I am thinking of getting a masters of healthcare informatics, and would love input from people in both industries and any advice you have!

Would you continue into the nursing leadership ladder or go into health informatics (which also has leadership!)?

How do RSUs in a PE owned firm work? I’m in early stage interview with such a firm and RSUs are part of the comp. I assume I would need the PE firm to sell or IPO the company in order to realise value from the RSUs. Is that right?

Currently working as an LPC-R in Virginia and am quickly burning out with my current employer. Does anyone have any ideas of what a resident therapist can do ASIDE from traditional clinical counseling? I’m testing for licensure in a few months and have been looking for opportunities such as teaching, training, or other positions in which I’d be working directly with people in some capacity.

Hi guys, I am currently working in TCS but in vendor payroll with 4.5 LPA, they are doing a conversion to TCS payroll after working for a year. How much should I expect? They are offering only 15% hike. Also any idea if I resign now, can I join back to TCS again? Because technically I'm not in TCS payroll right now.

I started a solo firm right as I was barred with about 3 years legal experience in the field. First year it’s looking like 500-750k. I out earn my big law friends, while living on a beach working remotely. I just hired my first paralegal and couldn’t be happier.

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Have you ever given honest feedback to a company when leaving? For example the d&i initiatives leadership is taking has lead to joking about common racial stereotypes in office whenever an update is sent. I’m not used to those comments being said so freely for all to hear and fear they’d hire a minority (as part of those initiatives) in my place and subject them to that. I’m not sure what there is to gain but wanted to get other points of view.

Has anyone made the leap from Corporate accounting/Financial reporting to something more niche like Revenue Reporting? I work in SEC reporting but want to work somewhere more diverse/fast paced/in the saas world and am considering a revenue reporting manager position at a tech company.

I haven’t worked in revenue before and am not super familiar with 606 so I don’t know if I would flop but I’m a CPA with 8+ yes experience (mix of PA/corporate experience)

Ok fishbowl family - I need advice. Rising senior 1 here and realizing that I genuinely get no joy out of audit. I’m way too stressed and really do not care about accounting and have made it a life goal to never book a journal entry. I want to take the next year to figure out what my dream job is and go for it. Here’s what I like: I love talking to people, mentoring & teaching, organizing, learning. I literally loved everything in college- I was between majoring in accounting or psychology. 1/X

I applied at this company and last Friday they verified my references. And then 4 days later hiring manager sets up a phone conversation letting me know they still have other finalist they are interviewing and will let me know when t they make a decision. I really wanted this job and now idk if I’ll even get it. But my question, why would she verify my references and not offer me the job!is that normal ? This never happened to me before 😞

My glowing review, complete with the “It’s not a matter of ‘if’ you’ll make partner, but ‘when’” line, resulted in a $4,000 salary increase. For the third year in a row.

I billed 200 more hours than last year and earned another certification. Now at $76k in a low to mid COL area. Top 25 firm.

Is it time to jump ship?

How hard is it to move from audit to internal audit / risk advisory? Are the hours better? Willing to switch firms if it’s easier to do so.
I do enjoy audit but this life is not sustainable.
