Advice please - I’m happy with my pay, work life balance, and feel the job is secure. But I’m micromanaged hard and can’t seem to care. Has anyone ever gotten out of a rut like that? I’m worried about moving somewhere else and losing the positives of this job.

The easiest way to avoid being micromanaged is to be proactive. Most micromanagers have specific things they get worked up about - figure out what they are and make sure you’re never in a position where your manager has to ask for them or tell you what to do.

like

I’m going through that right now. At the end of the day, if being micromanaged is impacting your mental health (which it does for I imagine the majority of people) then that is part of the work/life equation

It’s mostly like annoyance. Like “this is not urgent”

Is this specific to your manager? How long does that tenure last?

Those are my thoughts. I remember gritting my teeth untiknmy micromanager changed. I just remebered everhthing else in my job that made it worthwhile!

Send your manager resume to all the recruiters anonymously. Hopefully he is out soon. Sounds silly and creative but it worked for me :)

At the moment I'm a procurement consultant in London, but want to make a move towards supply chain consulting. I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!
