I've never heard of anyone getting a raise because they won a pitch. Winning pitches is part of the job just like doing client work.
Don't get me wrong, we're all underpaid and never get rewarded for the extra effort like we should so I'd support something like that, but I would temper your expectations.
The benefits of doing high visibility work come more in the long term. It is worth it in the end.
Ha, one of our campaigns generated $10M for a client. Our agency threw us a pizza party to celebrate...it was the most demeaning thing ever.
Might be in the wrong business. Try real estate or insurance or finance. Bonus & commission heavy roles.
Hey look, I once got laid off shortly after leading a winning pitch. Gotta love this business.
Heh, if only.
But if you really want a pitch to land you a raise, don’t focus on the work. Focus on the budget and scope and whether they factor in pay bumps for assigned team members.
I remember after we won a pitch for a $30M account then grew it to a $100M+ account within the first year cause we crushed it, I got a solid $400 annual bonus. 🤦♂️ At the time, I was one of the only 2 ADs on the pitch and continued to work that account for 2 years with a similar sized bonus and 60-70 work weeks for the next year. Sweatshop fo sho. 🫠
Pitches are part and parcel of agency life. would be interested to hear whether other agencies give any time back for working over weekends/overnight on pitches etc. CM doesn’t.
I got an envelope with a $10K bonus check in it after winning a big pitch once.
I’ve never given or received a raise because of a pitch. I’ve gotten one when I wanted to transfer to a new supervisor and my boss gave me one to keep me. I’ve given them to staff members who worked hard on something high profile and visible and to staff I wanted to retain or felt had potential.
But you are your own advocate. Ask. The worst they can say is no. Go get that cheddar! Good luck!

If you did those things, ask. And start shopping around. They’re not just going to give it to you.
Sick brag into the void bruh
I always tell my team to be happy with what you’re paid to do your job.
You sound like a great boss.
