After years of guiltily shopping on Amazon, I’m on a mission to support local bookstores more! Could you share your favorite independent bookstores in the Houston area? I’m particularly keen on those with cozy reading nooks or special collections. I don't mind a bit of a drive. What makes these places stand out to you?

Blue willow bookstore. Tiny store and pricy but the one time I went I was impressed that the sales staff was passionate about books and gave reviews / recommendations.

Came here to say Blue Willow. Has Author events. Also, there is a bakery/coffee shop in the same center which is very book reader friendly

Blue Willow books. Small, but very committed and knowledgeable staff.

Same question, but I’m looking for cheap, and monthly book sales in Houston!

I love independent bookstores, but I don’t love Houston’s (to be fair, by that I mean, “I don’t love Brazos”). I hear Murder by the Book is good. Half Price books is still good, though I think there is only one location left in Houston.

Favorite in TX include Lark and Owl in Georgetown and Pecan Street in Seguin.

I've been wanting to go to Kaboom Books in the Woodlad Heights area. It's on Houston Avenue.

I am a nuclear physicist and every time I am asked what I do and I answer the question, the next comment always comes in a mocking tone: "so you make bombs? Nuclear is not only about making bombs, a nuclear reactor is a bomb indeed, but not only can it be used to explode. It can also be used to generate clean energy for example.

Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I’ve been taking care of my extremely sick (literally on the verge of dying) dog. I work from home so it’s not too much of a nuisance but I feel distracted all day long and can hardly get anything done because I worry about my dog. I feel like I’d benefit from a day off or even half a day off but I’ve only been working for my firm for a month now, plus I have “discretionary time off.” Would it be okay for me to ask for a day off?

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

Alright auto fishes, I’m in the market for a entry level luxury car. Open to used or a lease. I don’t plan to use it as a daily driver, live in an HCOL. Only restriction is that I’d like to keep my monthly costs at no more than $600-$700/month (including insurance, financing / fees, etc; have a parking spot already). Doesn’t have to be a European badge. Thoughts?

I am currently working in advertising with experience on fintech & CPG. I would like to work in tech marketing, specifically Google’s APMM program.
I’ve been studying some PM/PMM books/podcasts/videos, attending Google events, and want to keep learning more to try to prepare myself as much as I can.
What resources helped you get into product marketing/Google?
Has anyone here moved from advertising to tech?
Would love to hear from a marketer about their experience getting into Google.
Thank you

I’m relocating to the US from an international rotation to work in Galveston. I have never been to Texas and I am trying to find the best spot for my family to live in. So far from reading online it sounds like Pearland is a good option but I have not been able to validate that/ figure out what other options are out there. I would appreciate all advice:
1. Would you recommend living in Pearland?
2. What are other good areas to live in? Safe and would like to be less than 1 hour from Galveston.
