Yes. Doesn’t matter what you’re actually doing, the company/account has a staff plan. Raise, at a year, sure. Title change, definitely not. If you think you go from manager to director in a year, you’re not director material quite honestly
Surprised to hear that. Maybe it’s different at Viacom but I’ve seen a ton of people be promoted to director level agency side in less than a year.
I’d think this is actually the perfect time to ask for a promotion given how much you’re being relied on. It certainly would be much harder to hire and train someone to replace you if you left for an better opportunity.
That’s definitely not the norm lol.
Thanks for your responses! Regarding be first post about not being ready after close to a year for title change. Prior to my current role, I had over 2 years of expertise and certifications in the area of specialty that I work in as well as 5 years total of management experience. While the director of this dept (my boss) has no expertise or background knowledge in digital. They were only recently promoted to a director level around the same time of my hire after over 4 years with the company. I’m concerned about ruffling feathers as it appears that her role would have been the logical move for me in addition to the fact that the company culture is not big on promoting folks in a timely manner
