I love my job, I don't know which vets you know but if they are not here to do good for the animals then they made the wrong choice in their profession!
You are very lucky to not be experiencing the overwhelming pressure and long hours. Someone can love animals and still be exhausted by 60+ hour weeks.
Veterinary medicine is not what it used to be. The hours are long, the pay is poor, and the work is often thankless. I don't know many people who still love their job as much as before.
For me it's about my salary. I work in a rural area and I'm happy to be positive towards the animals' health, but it really isn't a livable wage for me anymore.
Yes, there are many happy vets out there who still love their job. Despite the long hours and difficult cases, most vets find satisfaction in helping animals and making a difference in their lives.
There are many opportunities for advancement and specialization in the veterinary field, which can keep you engaged and interested in your work. To any new vets out there: it is worth it if you have a passion for helping the animals!
