Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.

EY3 not to be a grammar nazi or be a dick about it but *regardless* instead of irregardless, it's a common mistake tho. I appreciate your input, especially on the things to do to be recognized for your performance.
@EY3 don't be naive. You're pulling back on a perk, we're supposed to enjoy it? The only greater good is executive pockets, and that's perfectly fine. We all know this. But your response to our reaction is the exact reason we bitch and complain - just give it to us straight we don't need the fluffy bullshit.
Agree. Also tired of hearing "be thankful for your job"... it's a two way street.
Our hourly pay is slightly higher than an intern for the first 5 years..
No one says thank you to me.. Never heard that at EY
If you're being asked to answer your phone while on vacation, you need to set expectations with your team members at every level.
EY3: you make 120k but I make 63k as a senior. Before you get to 120k you have already benefited from all the higher expense reimbursement policies. So don't tell me to suck it up. You try make 63k and pay $100 month on your call+text+15gb plan
EY thinks saying "thank you" and the experience is a substitute for actual money
Ey3- is that you, Mike, Mike dilece?
@ey3 I'm not crying. I'm unaffected. I agree the reaction is over the top, but you're on an app designed specifically for venting and you have an issue with it. Reassess friend, reassess.
EY stresses the total benefit package. So these "minor perks" are what EY touts as something provided on top of salary. It's a selling point, a marketing tool, and what we've been reminded repeatedly to remember when we look at comp. Now it's being pulled back when your workload/responsibilities are the same or more. Fine, couple dollars a month, point taken. But you can't force a narrative down our throat, repeal it, and expect a thank you for it. Frankly, what's more remarkable to me than this overreaction, are the apologists that are cool with money taken out their pockets. You're both admitting you're worth less and welcoming further steps to cutting back. I don't understand that mindset.
OP I'm not sure which service line you're in but, my group across the US looks out for one another. Irregardless of you working past 5pm, if you're on a team where you and everyone else feels like they're contributing to the greater good, doing tasks that give them the opportunity to learn something and new feel empowered, you should still want to help each other out to get the task complete with the highest level of quality. Complain about it during dinner or over beers later.
Whatever you do within EY or another company, you should always create a plan B, C, & D. Meaning take advantage of the learning and work experience, and client exposure opportunities afforded to you, network internally and externally, go above and beyond and let others brag about you and your good quality work, high performance, can-do attitude and technical skills. If you're doing all this great but there's still no reason to whine about a decrease in a benefit that is a perk and not a requirement. Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no federal or state law that states a company is required to supplement mobile data plans for employees that work past 5pm especially for salaried professionals. If you want more money to pay for your $100 phone bill, do more to get recognized for your performance, team building, internal training initiatives, leadership skills and business development success.
Their reason for lowering the reimbursement is because phone bills have gotten cheaper over the years due to competetition among carriers. I call that BS. It's prolly due to their recent fines from the SEC. Two cases, one involve independence, and the other fine for not doing their audit job
EY4: everytime I see people like ey3 and ey6, I immediately assume they are manager and above.
Ey 3 you're an ass. Get your head out of your ass.
@EY4 I keep it 100%... I came from nothing, I worked hard for all that I have and I thank God for it everyday. I make over 120k, so if I have to pay for a portion of my phone bill now, that doesn't upset me. Don't tell me the main reason you joined EY was for free or discounted cellphone service? Don't sweat the small stuff.
I'm not being naive and I'm not going to cry about something that I would pay for if EY didn't.
Ok @PwC 2, you got me there. Continue using irregardless instead of regardless, doesn't affect me.
MA 2, OP makes 63k though (which is what staff in my market make)
EY OP. Is your bill 160 a month? Reassess your plan. If it's 100 a month, don't go to dinner one night and you can pay the additional $40 expense. If we're talking $40, you're sounding entitled to me. Just my opinion.
EY6: I'm already cooking every meal, living very basic just to pay off my student loan. $40 or not it is still money that I am receiving less than people who used to be at my level. Idk what level you are but I'm sure you have already benefited from the previous reimbursement.
