My terms are a strict 30 days. I’d talk to the recruiter. You’re a creative, not a bank. And skip the biz insurance.
Is this just an initial payment takes 52 days to process (which I think is inexcusable for a large company and we also have the tech for ACH payments so wtf are these companies doing) or they only pay you every 52 days and that’s their pay schedule? I freelanced for Chobani and they had a 60 day pay period for freelancers, that was the first and last time I tolerated that a pay schedule beyond 15-30 days. I only worked for them for 2 pay periods before I found another gig I just wasn’t getting paid enough to wait that long between paychecks either. No one should have to wait that long, there’s no valid excuse in 2025.
The other benefit of a W2 is that you can get unemployment insurance down the road if needed.

I never apply for it. I know I should though.
I’ve worked freelance/1099 for IPG and never had 52 day terms come up. Must be the agency vs hold co? But yes, insurance is a pretty standard thing required by a some gigs.

@FPFD1 All they told me was what my hourly rate would be. That’s it. Two days in the onboarding docs have me as a contractor. I have an EIN so was happy for the 1099 work. This is also my first time being required to have insurance (have worked for several IPG agencies in the past).

I’ve had insurance required for client gigs but never agency.

1099s are the worst, and you might not be covered by the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), which guarantees you get paid for all hours at work, including wait time. W2 is a better way to go for me usually.
1099 all the way. You can operate as a small business and not get gouged on sole-proprietor taxes. W2 for freelance is the worse. All downside, you get none of the actual perks of full time.
Yep IPG does that for 1099 vendors I’ve worked with them a bunch. W2 they will pay weekly but not 1099 🫠
Yes I was able to negotiate everything on the contract. Very few times it’s a non-negotiable
Business insurance is standard. Get it

Got the insurance. The level of “Onboarding Specialist” I am dealing with may be a factor. She is slow to respond to emails, and also sends info only if I ask for it, and long afterwards.

Guys, my direct deposit alert came in four days after I invoiced. That means I will be able to pay rent, eat, and repay some of the money I borrowed from my IRA before the 60 day deadline. Advertising, I LYSM when you treat me well.
