With post-covid office culture I can’t imagine it’s that big of an ask. That said, I’m in a junior role and have been with the company for less than a year so I don’t know if this is a question I should really even ask at this time.

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?

What is a fair salary for a NYC data engineer with 1-2 years of experience?

Currently SM at Bain (4 years post MBA) and was approached for a senior associate role in portfolio ops at a large PE fund. Been told 2.5 years to VP and another 2.5 years to director. Feels like the role is a bit junior but offers a 50% pay jump.

I got offer from XYZ company, but my current company ABC had a call with me and had me stay in the current company. They offered me same offer which XYZ offered. But they officially didn't give any offer letter but they said you will get revised salary in march month. But I didn't receive revised salary. Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. I’ve since been focused on a Patent Attorney track and am with a firm that will support me taking the patent bar/law school. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

Currently in Saas sales for MDM and AV, but I'm getting tired of the sales side and constant budget chase. Probably also because we get few leads and I have to do a lot of building pipeline from scratch. I'm thinking about taking some online courses to try to move over to cyber security, what would be the easiest step that way career wise- preferably also away fro sales?

I know agencies across the board did some layoffs right before the holidays, but when do we think hiring will pick up again? Getting to a point where I feel like I need to start thinking about a change.

I have never done freelance work and was given the opportunity to take part in a cool project. My problem is it’s a proactive case by a brand new agency and it’s their own project, meaning there’s no client who pays for the work. For them it’s PR for their new business, but I think they’re expecting me to work completely pro bono. It does have potential for a great case and I’d love to have it in my portfolio, but is it reasonable for them not to compensate me? Any tips on how to approach this?
