Any advice for dealing with team leaders with really poor time management? A senior member of my team has been ghosting on meetings, not reviewing work before client calls, and failing to answer pings and emails in a timely manner, and then setting up meetings super late at night to "catch him up" and request last minute changes. Team is definitely wasting time- is there any way as a junior person I can communicate this or be more proactive?

Do you have a mentor outside of your project? This is definitely inappropriate and warrants attention from higher up.

I agree. A coach or mentor can likely help. It really depends on the situation, but I’ve been there. Sometimes you need to sort of imply urgency by thinking of ways to communicate without criticizing. Like “I really think I should be doing this because I can sense that the client has been becoming exceedingly impatient with us”. Try to point out that you’ve noticed the situation getting worse without implying the manager directly.

Also, it will pass. This happens all the time.

Are you taking meeting minutes? Documenting the meeting, the requests and follow through or in this case, no follow through, will give their manager what they need to have a discussion with them.

I would definitely be speaking with someone that is above that person. This is totally unprofessional and inappropriate.

I am facing the same situation and i done the following for him
Assign mentor to be with him in the projects
Break down the activities to be clear for him
Standardize process so he dont waste time in small details
I am still suffering a little but there is improvement

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

Hi. People Manager here. I've been one for 12 years now and I encourage my team to not be "yes" people. At this time, it feels like my manager wants me and my team to be yes people for her. How do I deal with this? I've never been a yes person and I don't preach this to my reports. I don't know what to do. Help?

I've been seeing a lot of ADCOLOR posts on linkedin, and some of the people who are liking and reposting it are some of the same people who were blatantly racist and rude to me when I worked with them. I wish there was something I could say/do about it, but it's literally making my blood boil seeing them like posts about "uplifting" and "supporting" BIPOC, only because I know that once they get off their screens and they're the meanest people

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

What do you do for winter shoes and commuting?

I walk a total ~20 mins in between train/bus stations and then getting from the stop in the loop to the office.

What do I do come wintertime for boots? Do you wear them while you're in the office? Or do you bring dress shoes with you to change in to? I wear a suit to work, so what boots would be good for winter but also look decent with a suit? This is my first winter in Chicago (a socal transplant)

I’ve been at a job a year and have what I would call a very toxic manager. When I first started they were very nasty to me making comments about my appearance, my character and other inappropriate and mean things. I let them know how this made me feel and they stopped however I continue to notice how manipulative and condescending they are. My mental health is at a low. We are about to be at our busy season but I want to leave so bad. Should I wait until after the busy season or leave asap?
