Do things like the $1500 gift from Microsoft get lumped into "benefits"? And are there any companies that you should expect more things like that from, and is it a significant factor when taking a job?
Considering an expert role in healthcare in mid Atlantic region at McKinsey. Any thoughts about culture, wlb, tc, etc? Have read through a bunch of older threads. Opinion seems mixed. Negatives mentioned include more intense work hours than integrative track, second class citizen, slower career progression, lower pay than integrative, harder to get staffed on engagements, poor integration into teams, and subpar exit opportunities. Also read this is changing. Would appreciate recent thoughts. 🙏
Did anyone start contributing to a 529 account in their mid 20s? Even if they’re single w/o kids (but obviously expecting to have kids in the future)? I like the tax benefits and have some income I can allot to that after my current investments/savings/needs and wants. Just not sure if there are other things I should be considering…

West Monroe Consultants/Senior Consultants in Chicago: what are your thoughts on working for the company, the culture, benefits, and compensation?
660k net worth at mid - late 30s still feel insecure due to no access to affordable Health Insurance. Health is ok, some dental issues. But, can we really call this a free country if one health issue can bring you on road? What are the options for health insurance if you try a new job and get fired?
Have an offer from a mid-tier shop as a muni bond trader managing proprietary and client capital. Base 140k plus bonus and normal benefits (eg 401k match, etc.). Would you take it?
What are some post MBA job opportunities for those looking to stay in healthcare? I’m aware of the leadership programs from big pharma, but haven’t seen too much else
With all these talks about layoffs, do you guys have any advice for when that time comes (negotiations around benefits, pay, prolonging it, etc.)? -Hasn't happened to me but I'm curious
Is it a good time to buy a condo now - 350k. My portfolio is 161k annual excl. bonus, 45k in savings, 38k in 401k. Rest of savings went into edu loan and fam support. Currently renting for 1700.
Hi ladies. I need some advice. I'm currently out on maternity leave, to return in about a month. I was just informed my male counterpart in my department will be getting a promotion by our new boss. This is really a slap in the face considering I've been trying to fight for equal pay since last year when I found out another (former) male counterpart of mine was making 40k more than me. What would you do in my situation? Demand to know why I wasn't considered? Leave?
So this weekend I found out that my favorite bar in NY is now childfree. Being a parent I can only have time to go to a bar during the day, with my kid. they have a swell backyard. 😕
Do you think parental leave policies and the culture around it at your company are fair?
Does anybody knows someone who works in the pharmaceutical/medical sales field? My husband is currently looking for an opportunity to break into the field but haven’t gotten any interview yet (he has been applying for almost 2 weeks now). We are located in Virginia and he has a BS in Biology + B2B sales experience at a F500 company. Appreciate the help sisters!!
USA in 1941: Everyone is required to go fight in WW2 to save the world from dictatorship. USA in 2021: A slip of paper with my vaccination status is literally dictatorship.
Junior associate at a mid-sized reputable law firm that is not strict about hours. I am consistently under hours due to lack of work (goal is 1800, I bill 1200 on average). Love the partner I work for and learn a lot from them but they don’t push enough work down, despite me asking for it. Any advice?
Hey Ad People!! Jr Copywriter here! Tomorrow I have a interview with one of my dream agencies for an internship opportunity but I know my book isn’t good enough to land me the job. How does a candidate that may not have the best book stand out?? Backstory: I have been working freelance at an agency as a Jr. Copywriter which is why I haven’t been making new work. Did not attend portfolio school.
I have heard that McKinsey allows some BAs to move quickly to EM (although sounds like it’s fairly rare to be in 3 years?). When that does happen, do they manage post MBA associates, or just BAs?
I’m in a place where I can finally do the digital nomad bicoastal life 🙏!! If anyone’s looking to move to NYC for 6 months, I’m renting out my apartment in Midtown East for $3400/mo (pls look at pics before judging)! Also open to apartment trades as well for Hawaii, LA, San Diego, Miami, Austin and wherever else! Pics: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FzjIC9r8Wi0syqNGDVPecLTwRM8wZAsY/view?usp=sharing

I have a final round interview for a non-investment role at a hedge fund in the NYC area. I was told I would be discussing comp with the founder of the fund. What kind of compensation can I expect going into the conversation? The firm has about 35 employees and $15bn AUM. Role is business development/client service associate and this would be my first full time role. I just want to have a general idea of what comp could/should be so I feel prepared to discuss
Normally pay my credit card off in full each month but find myself with a 10k balance (mix of medical, a/c repair, other unexpected events). I have 15k in savings, but I'm uncomfortable using most of it until closer to bonus time (wife stays home and I have 2 kids). Is this the right approach? Paying interest doesn't make sense either. Helpful advice only please
How would you change your life if you woke up tomorrow with a million dollars in the bank? It’s not really enough to “retire” if you have 50 more years to live (maybe you could make it work through) but it’s enough to give you a lot of freedom to make new life choices.
Starting MBB soon and would appreciate any recommendations on preparing myself for success on my first day? I’ve got a number of weeks until I start and will take some time off, but I’d also like to stay sharp and come in feeling confident. Any suggestions are welcome.
