Any advice?

I am an immigration attorney with 4 years of experience. I recently applied to an immigration lit position at the U.S. Attorney's Office nearest me. I have networked my way "in" since applying, and at least 3 AUSAs have said they are willing to put in a good word for me. I think I have a decent shot, but it has been 4 weeks since I applied and have not heard anything. Also, the partner where I am wants to replace me with an associate with 2x my experience, so I am short on time.

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? Anyone else having trouble focusing today? Every time I have a long break and come back to the office I’m reminded how much I don’t like my current job. Why do people write 30 page memos the client will never read? Keep it short. And INCLUDE AN EXECUTIVE SUMMARY. I think a short, concise memo that will get the client to hire us again is better than..

Is there a market for lawyers to add expertise In crisis management or reputation management? My goal is to counsel clients on how to respond to media inquiries without saying or posting something detrimental to a potential litigation while still maintaining communication with their client base. If so, how to break into that industry? Courses? Books? Certifications?
