For most people, absolutely not. As a tool to cover risk, which is what Life Insurance is good at, absolutely not. Understand your risk, cover that risk with term, invest the difference.

Permant policies can be efficient wealth transfer tools, leveraging taxable dollars into a tax free death benefit on money you know you are going to pass on but that’s really the only thing they are “good” for and even then it has to make sense in context.

like

Many here will say no but frankly it depends on many factors.

What

Avoid - take that money you would pay in whole life premiums and invest it, if possible.

Hard pass

Omg I had a call about this in the morning!! I just didn’t know how to tell the guy “No!” So he’s trying to set up yet another meeting to discuss the tax advantages. 🥲

Fyi, if you hear the word LIRP or “Life Insurance Retirement Plan” run away too... they will make it sound like it isn’t even insurance. I can’t tell you how many LIRP’s I have had to undo from New York Life.

Max your Roth, have a relationship with what you own, and keep investing.

It’s not even their fault really, most of them only have an insurance license or an insurance license and a series 6... when you are only licensed to use one thing magically it is suitable for everyone.

Hi! I am 4 years into Healthcare Marketing with most of my experience being in design, social media, and content creation. I also do a lot of blog writing and collateral creation. I am currently with a company that is working on a new role for me and I was previously at another company doing more recruitment-oriented marketing. I'd say that now I have quite a bit more I can offer. I am working remotely and love this job. What is a fair salary for the skills and experience that I have?

Does anyone have recommendations for an accountant (CPA)? I feel like word-of-mouth is going to be better than all the googling I’ve been doing. I’m open to having an accountant not in the state I live in, but preferably east coast. My last accountant was not great and super unresponsive (Google was not helpful even though they had great reviews...) This year I’m going to need a decent accountant for tax planning purposes as my taxes will be more complicated. Feel free to DM directly

Anyone else kind of bored clerking? I liked law school and thought I liked research and writing, but so far this district court clerkship has been pretty boring—lots of state law issues that are poorly briefed. Though to be fair, most of my time has been spent on one big case that I’m 99% sure is going to settle but not until the eve of trial bc that’s plaintiff’s counsel’s m.o.; so my work resolving the insane number of SJ and Daubert motions seems like a waste of my time.

So something crazy happened to me last week. I was at the airport, and as usual on call after call. In doing so, I catch the eye of the behind me. He smiles and says something. I just sort of nod and carry on with my call. After that, he keeps trying to talk to me, eventually I got to the check, say bye and leave. At security… tbc
