COL is ideal. Food, drinks, activities weather all great. Traffic is notoriously bad so look for minimized commute. Boating is limited to man made lakes outside the city a bit or trips to the coast. Start up scene is stronger than youâd expect. Common industry placements are Home Depot, Turner, Coca Cola, Chik Fil A, Suntrust, UPS, and Delta. Probably missing a few
COL in Atlanta is great, the city is changing a lot for the better. Lots of big companies are headquartered here or have a hub. Has a healthy startup scene too since thereâs a lot of talent (checkout Atlanta Tech Village). Public transport is good if you live and work on a metro line. Can highly recommend the food and drink scene; lots of little niche neighborhoods with their own vibes. You can boat at some nearby lakes, further away the better since they can get crowded. You can also get pretty much anywhere in the US or parts of the world with only 1 flight because of the large airport.
Having lived in both, COL in Atlanta is much better. Atlanta is more spread out but there are tons of areas that have been renovated throughout downtown. Seattle also is slightly separated when you have downtown vs Bellevue vs suburbs, but you have similar choices in good neighborhoods with things to do. Seattle does probably have a better outdoor scene closer to downtown but Atlanta is 3hrs from the mountains and 4hrs from warm beaches. Both places have decent job markets so it just depends!
The only thing that sucks about Atlanta is that a lot of the people there are from Atlanta and itâs hard to meet people. That being said it is a transplant city (for southerns) so if you can identify with southern values, Iâd say go for it.
Honestly I would agree with all the opinions above, but itâs just that those things are the only good things in the city. Thereâs no âvibeâ to it. It just exists as a cheap and nice place to live out the rest of your days.
D2 - Mmm interesting perspective, I would surmise that Seattle has its own âvibe,â and probably a lot going for it, except not cheap like Atalanta...
