Hi guys :) Glad to join fishbowl and this community. Guys I have an offer of 14.41 ctc from a big 4 (11 is fixed).
Technology-Microsoft Dynamics 365(I am a functional consultant in SCM and HR; Relevant exp: 3 yrs & Total exp: 4 yrs).
My interviews in IBM are done and I am waiting for the salary discussion with HR.
What is the likely offer that I am going to get? Any idea? (My expectation is 16.5 lpa ctc). I will adjust my expectations as per replies here.
Any response is highly appreciated :)
What’s the average salary range for a GAS?
Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Don't buy a dslr for 600, buy a mirrorless. Sony A6300, Olympus EM-10, And Fuji x100 are fantastic and won't weigh you down. You may have to buy pre owned or refurbished on the body to keep the price down but there is nothing wrong with that if you buy from adorama or B&H. And remember the ultimate rule, bodies come and go, glass stays forever. A good lens on an OK body crushes an OK lens on a good body.
If all you want to do is take pictures on full auto and have photos ready for you right away, go iPhone or mirrorless or point and shoot, if you want to play with settings and process photos, go with dslr. In auto mode your dslr will actually produce WORSE photos than a point and shoot.
Remember that OP said $600. OP, Google sample images for the camera you want and compare the sharpness and amount of detail for a true comparison of what you will get with the camera.
You won't really find any decent DSLR under 600. After body, lens, bag, and some basic accessories ran me close to 2k. Mostly the body/lens is the bulk cost
But truly depends on what you want to use it for. I would like to one day turn my photography into a small side business
Keep in mind the kit you end up getting is only as good as the lens you are using. I agree with some of above - your budget is a bit low for a good DSLR setup mostly because the kit lens at that entry level just isn't great. I would advise you to buy used. It will get you a lot more for that money. Go to the fredmiranda.com forums for a great seller/buyer community.
Save a bit more and get a Canon 5D Mark IV
its not DSLR, but i love my sony alpha interchangable lens camera. lets you mess with the manual controls and see how it affects the shot before you take it (helpful for a newbe like me) http://www.sony.com/electronics/interchangeable-lens-cameras/ilce-5000-kit
bcger thanks for the honest opinion. At least you didn't throw in consulting shots here:). I would recommend either Nikkon or Canon. There are tons of ecosystems surrounding each of these brands - be it an app , be it book, be it tutorial . Initial set always have 3 basic lenses : usually you will get it at Best Buy as a sales. More to come later :)
At 600 you are not buying a body or glass that takes great pictures. You are just burning money. Compare the image quality of a 600 dslr and a Sony rx100 and pick based on that. Now try that comparison in low light.
I own Nikon d810 dslr, and I love it, and have over $5k in lenses, but I 100% recommend a mirrorless for someone looking to spend under 1k because to me that says travel and/or family photos and no tripod (correct me if I'm wrong OP). Mirrorless for $1k gives ridiculous results and a fraction of the weight.
I thought we were talking about real cameras D6, not point and shoots ;) Use your camera phone, save the money, and get a nice lens for a mirrorless with a preowned body and that would kill the rx100 and let you be versatile down the road with interchangeable lenses.
I have Samsung nx500, it's not sold anymore so I got the camera and lens on discount from Best Buy
I do hobby photography and the occasional portraits. You can easily get a Nikon D3200 kit for $600 and you can take wicked pictures on it too. I usually daily load out a D5100 18-140mm (sometimes a 35mm) when I travel. It takes fantastic photos. I see the appeal of a lightweight mirror less, but would much sooner use my phone honestly.
My friend is a professional photographer in her early 50s and recommended the Canon 5. Her and her hubby only shoots with Canon.
I decided against it and take pics with my iPhone. I've always loved photography. Do you guys think a DSLR is worth it?
Yes. You can take great pics with a point and shoot or iPhone, but you have some much more control with a DSLR.
The a6000 that everyone recommends is a "mirrorless" camera. Try searching for those. Tons around 400-600. Nikon 1 J5 is great too
Mirrorless are compact and much easier to travel with. Great quality images for novice photographers who don't mess with too many settings
D5: a image algo engineer just banged his head in wall somewhere in Japan!!
Kpmg That's not true in the slightest.
OP: I am sure either you already have read this one liner story while searching for camera or your will see this in the second next page. Nonetheless, let me have the honor of repeating: Once a man saw an amazing painting in an exhibition and then he asked the painter about the brush and color he had used!!
