PPEDs: Just found out that a Partner, who was promoted in 2017, was fired. IDK the circumstances. What can they expect to walk away with besides 401k & normal pension plan?

I’m currently a maxed out GS-15 Step 10. Masters degree is Electrical/Computer Engineering, but now a Program Manager for a high visibility area. I have 10 years to reach full retirement age (57). Why do I feel like I’m limiting myself? What would the pros and cons be of seeking private industry employment at this point? What would an equivalent salary be taking into account pension, etc? Anyone else been in, or is in this situation?

I am a 17 year seasoned outpatient PT in Tampa FL who is the current head PT for my clinic. I do marketing, admin duties as well as staffing. I haven’t gotten a base hourly salary raise in 8 years! (I do get a percentage of profits but due to Covid, haven’t gotten one in 2 yrs). I do not get 401k, con Ed or health insurance benefits.
Current salary is $85K. I am getting very frustrated that this has not increased even after asking. Thoughts? What to do? What do other seasoned FL PTs make?

- Plans of IPO = 3 Years (2026)

I’m a layout engineer for a large construction company. I make 31/hr, 280 a week per diem. 1000$ month truck allowance. Lodging and all expenses paid by the company. I’m routinely netting a loss for the firm. I try not to get too down on myself but seeing it every month is starting to get to me. My EOY review is coming up. Here I plan to lobby for a promotion/raise (been at company for 1.5 yrs). Some backstory: During my hiring process I was told by my now boss and VP they were also going to hire a senior engineer to help me along. They never hired such senior engineer because I have over performed and do more than they thought I could (have been told this in 2 performance reviews). Thus, is it fair to ask for a raise and promotion to Senior engineer?

Hello! I need advice. I have 5 years of digital marketing, project and team management experience. I’ve been doing design work w/o realizing ux/ui was a career since the beginning. I didn’t keep record of those projects but I created a portfolio to show proof of knowledge/skill but it’s not lengthy. I know how to use design software, wireframe, prototype, and I do feel like a lot of my knowledge/ skills are relevant. Should I be going after Jr, mid or senior lvl UI roles?

Does anyone have any articles/resources/studies that prove common design legibility concepts? I.e. using multiple columns of text in an article vs spanning an entire width of page, or using images for visual resting space, or using varied type/design treatments to create hierarchy. I’m encountering content marketing folks who “consider themselves designers” and are directing me in ways that create walls of text. Apparently my ten years of design experience (and common sense) isn’t enough.🤯

What is a reasonable higher rate to negotiate? For example if you got offered 60k, is 70k a reasonable negotiation? And what factors determine whether or not this is reasonable? How do you quantify your skillset to validate how high you should negotiate? Is 10k more too high of a jump? Newbie here and first time negotiating.

(1/2)Has anyone ever had their contract end early with no warning? I was hired as an “agile social designer” for a big box retailer as a freelancer. The gig posting said it was a couple months (until the end of june) but when I interviewed they said they were actually gonna extend me until next February. Anyways now they’re saying the whole agile team may be eliminated and I didn’t get any new work assigned this week… I’m kind of freaking out bc I thought I’d at least have until next month.
