Any insights into turn around time for interviews and hiring in federal government jobs? I’ve applied to a couple on USAJobs and right now it just says that applications are being reviewed. Wondering if anyone else has any experience with the hiring process

Very, very long turnaround time and often job postings just close without the “reviewing application” or “referred as eligible” status changing. The subreddit r/usajobs has a lot of timelines and advice to share on the mess that is federal hiring.

TA1 that’s about what I expected but I appreciate the response nonetheless! And I’ll check out the Reddit forum as well. Thanks!

Let go recently, but last day isn't until Friday. Have a call with a hiring manager this week when I'm sure I'll be asked why I'm leaving consulting. Should I mention that I was laid off? That's not why I'm looking (started before), but also don't want to appear as though I'm hiding that information as it would eventually come out when I have to report my dates of employment.

Anyone leave law out of restlessness? I did law as my second career and have now had four FT law jobs in 12 yrs, each an improvement /better fit than the last.
