Do you ever find this industry to be superficial? I mean, I've made some great connections along the way, but a lot of the culture is just not for me. People seem to care about the wrong things

People at my company claim to be supportive, promote great work culture but there’s actually no support at all just bunch of bs. I am in a situation where im not getting the support from my supervisors, BDs and everyone is fake all the time. I am genuinely putting in the work and not getting the benefits I deserve. What are some good companies to work for in Marketing/advertising in Toronto? Or how would u go about addressing stuff like this ?

What would you choose, Big 4 or T2 firms like GT or BDO?

I have been in Deloitte since ever and wanted to consider moving to other firms.

Summer intern at BCG. I've been told by a few people that you need to spend your first few cases "earning your stripes" to gain staffing optionality or be servile/loyal to a pyramid to gain access to the cooler case work within that PA. It's seemed particularly emphasized at times.

My fiancé moved abroad for med school. Long distance is hard but I love my job, the work, the people, and the culture. I wish there were roles where you could work abroad. I wish I could work here forever, but I’ll likely need to switch to a firm that allows working abroad at some point to save the marriage. I know that the memo rescinding DACA was ultimately vacated—but OC is unsure whether this would count as voluntary unemployment for child support purposes. Can personality make up for work product? I’ve worked on two matters with a first year that multiple partners have referred to as a “superstar.” Their work was just fine on both matters and downright wrong on certain issues/points. I’ve definitely been more impressed by other first years in this class. However, this first year is incredibly outgoing and some would probably consider them “charming” (comes across as a borderline sociopath imo). Could that be why partners think so highly of them?

Am I the only one whose time entries get worse the busier and more chaotic a specific case is? Like for example preparation for a dispositive hearing with a lot of factual and legal issues that’s treated like a fire drill. My time entries are chaotic and rereading at the end of the month I feel like the time was totally justified but also like wow it sounds like we were jumping all over the place and we were, lol time entries were not your typical sequential one step at a time thing.
