Am I going crazy? I feel like my close friend is always trying to “one up” me in conversation. Any time I make a point, they will go out of their way to prove I’m wrong with some sort of stat or evidence. It’s like they need to have the last say.

They try to make me look bad at times without noticing. I don’t know how to approach this as we are all in a pretty tight friend group.

Actually I am going through some tough times(going through a divorce), want to connect to EAP to discuss my mental health issues.
I had connected once and they say that the conversations are strictly confidential.
Just wanted to know do they really keeps stuff confidential or can they inform my Manager regarding the personal conversations.

I love my friends in tech but I hate how much money they make. And I don’t think I should necessarily make more, I think they should make less. Thoughts?

I was reading a post in another group that asked how folks were celebrating Diwali outside of India and 2 people mentioned that their whole street (in the US) exchanged sweets, put up lights, and pitched in for a community firecrackers permit. This had me wondering if this happened in the US for Eid as well in cites where there is a big Muslim population. Also, how do you all celebrate Eid? For folks who are grew up in the west, is there anything you plan on doing differently with your kids?

My confession is I have always had very competetive and hardworking close friends around me with whom I felt amazing to compete, do more and be the best. A few years back we all made to different countries, now I achieve far less than my potential and find it hard to be as efficient as before. How to fix this?

Anyone stuck in an unhappy marriage? How do you deal with loneliness of this profession and complicated family life

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

Anyone the only single family members with a flexible job that always gets called upon to help everyone out? Watch kids/sick parents, travel to vs being visited?

My marriage is beyond repair I think. Husband just said we keep having the same conversations over and over in the past year about things we’ve been trying to fix. Is a year enough time? 11 years together for reference. And I don’t think his statement is true - he literally mentioned one of those things last week that he was happy about. I just can’t do it with these vague statements in arguments.

Here to tell you guys that each of us mending from either leaving a bad relationship or having some leave us: things are going to be amazing for us! I believe if for myself and I am so happy! And meeting new people is FUN. Laughing with friends and being yourself, away from all the drama, pain. Liberate yourself by deciding this breakup is your evolution into your best self!

Dads with older children: while raising your children, did your children prefer their moms over you? I know some will prefer dads over moms, but I assume majority of children out there will prefer their moms over dads… I have one child and it kinda hurts to see my child always preferring the mom over me. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but I just do. How did you cope with such issue raising your children?

I work for a non profit hospital - I’ve been offered a reclassification position from Finance Analyst I to Senior Analyst- what should I expect in regards to salary increase / is there any negotiating if the % is low?

SAFe is already a get-rich-quick scheme and their training is shady as it is. In remote is it even possible to do when there is so many failures when we are not remote? I think it's a waste.

Last year when Covid broke, I received a couple of interview calls but ignored them as I felt the organization kept me at work when other companies cut short their HR staff so I should be with them even if with no appraisal. But now, I was living in the fool's paradise when I am told to leave with no job offers in hand, car and home loan, dependent parents, expecting jobless spouse with a 3-year old kid.
