KPMG is very prestigious

It wasn’t A&M, but I chose to stay at big4 over a firm that only hires big4 and pays more for a few reasons. Not totally analogous to A&M, but some of the reasons may apply.
I really like my team and leaving would risk that. I plan to make partner and long term comp is better. I’m viewed as a top performer at big4 and that wouldn’t be true at this smaller firm. That means higher chance of getting laid off and more likely to stall in my career later. Exit ops seem to be better/easier. Idk if I made the right decision, but I think there can be valid reasons for staying based on individual circumstances.
No. I’m in M&A tax. It’s a small firm that mostly just does M&A tax
Prestige. Worldwide. Wide. Wide.

You can invite your hinge dates to the B4 Holiday Party and link TikTok's from much larger offices to make it look cool.
Or so I hear... apparently people do that
Actually looking for a pay decrease, so may make the change myself. Also there’s just something so gratifying about telling someone how Deloitte is harder to get into than Harvard.
Depending on firm / geography / level, moving to A&M could be a sizable pay cut in base salary. Big 4 does have stronger branding, so imagine it’s easier to exit into corporate roles from big 4.
Also our jobs are very team / client dependent - A&M has great ppl overall (more sane than big 4 imo) but there’s still demanding clients / teams to work for. So depending on how risk averse you are - something to really think about. It’s definitely leaner here and there’s a big focus on utilization - so you’ll typically have more on your plate and bc ppl tend to be busier, the onus is on you to advocate for yourself, own your career, etc.
From a pure work perspective - if you’re a generalist, there’s not as defined industry verticals like at big 4. So depending on your level - another thing to think about.
I think a big difference there. Depends on the deals and all that but you could be staffed on anywhere between 2-6 deals at a time.
If you are good and work hard, you’ll make at least double at A&M for the same exact job and career progression. It makes no sense at all to stay at the big four unless you plan to leave within the next year for an exit opp.
When I was at B4, stock investments kept getting flagged and forced to sell because of the audit practice. The effort of tracking all investments and reporting it was tricky too. Not sure if your title is accurate, but it gets more scrutinized at higher levels. Even if you want to start your own LLC and do real estate or start a small business, you’d have to report that, and partners were usually not okay with that. All of these don’t play a role at A&M. If you factor in the higher pay at lower levels, you’re already at a head start as a new partner at A&M. Which gets exponentially higher in later years.
Picked Big 4 over A&M for the exit opportunities. My goal is to get a MBA and break into IB at the associate level and Big 4 has the advantage when it comes to prestige and deal size. If you want to stay in FDD then A&M is clearly the path.
Hult tech mba right 😉
Depends on your goals. If you want to do FDD, A&M is a no brainer. Better culture, people, learning and growth opportunities, and the pay is substantially better at all levels. If you want to exit FDD in a couple of years, Big4 might suite you better.
