How is WLB in AMD?
Hello, I'm looking at a position within Paypal. My question, what is the work life balance, expectation for office (hybrid/remote/other) and is the pay comparable to other companies? Reviewing Director and Senior Director roles on the business side. I have over 15 years experience with multiple degrees. TIA!
Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

When I joined my firm, my goal was to make it to partner in the earliest time frame possible. After one year I'm sick of the work and want to get out of consulting as soon as possible and into a cushy industry job.
I never thought of becoming partner, not even principal or manager but yeah never expected that just 3 months into the firm, I would want out. Thankfully, I am about to make the big switch & so happy! 😂
Every day! It's a struggle. I want to do my best in the work but end up burnt out.
I realised that my employers are completely unbothered about my mental or physical health in any way that matters. (their actions falll short of their words).
I'm ultimately motivated by those people who don't tire themselves or apply themselves more than necessary while seeing better results than the rest.
I hope someday I'll manage my personal and professional time enough to not worry as often about all this.
If you're looking for advice, I'd say tip the scales to spending more time on yourself.
Work at 50 percent so that you can scale up when needed. Find ways to increase efficiency. Use the remaining time to get certifications and learn. That's what I am doing but I have no clue if this is the right way. Someone who has more experience needs to advice me and op(original poster) as well
I agree with what you said, followed the same model in the last 2 years of working and using that knowledge/experience to build something for myself now. It's a struggle but I know it will pay off at the end :)
When I started working, it was more of the former. Then I realised I'm killing myself for barely any positive outcomes. Switched to the family business and freelancing/entrepreneurship. Then covid happened 😅 times are tough but I don't regret focusing on myself - money can always be earned later imo 😄😉
