Anyone every gone back to get a masters in public policy or a similar degree to kick-start a career in policy? I don't enjoy the practice of law but very much enjoy the law itself and how it impacts people. So, policy or academia is much more my speed and starting to think about whether a masters would be a good idea to get into the policy field or if having the law degree is sufficient. Curious if others have taken this path.

I’ve not taken this path but would think a law degree is enough.

Agree with this. I’d look for job postings and test the waters. Your analytical, research and writing skills should be enough if you can demonstrate how to apply that to a specific area.

I’ve been practicing in traditional labor for about two years now (although about a decade of labor relations experience) but I’m trying to break into employee benefits law. My long term goal is to have benefits be my main area of practice.

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?

I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation.
