Anyone have a financial advisor with CFP that is licensed in NC they would be willing to refer and their AUM minimums. Wife and I need recommendations

Go with fee only advisors, not worth spending the money on FAs who charge you by AUM. It’s not that complex to self manage. Invest time to learn how to manage yourself - plenty of stuff online and less than $100 to learn by buying a few good books.

Is getting your CFP worth the investment? I am in my 30s and plan on staying in this industry as an FA until I retire. Lately I’ve been getting asked if I offer any fee-only options and I know you can’t be fee-only unless you’re a CFP... Do we see the industry headed this way?

Anyone know of firms with the Los Angeles area that help you and encourage you to attain the CFP? I’m finding it hard finding local firms that have career trajectory from Client Servicing to full Advisory work.

I’m willing to pay for self study and take local classes but would love and appreciate sponsorship.

Any advice in general for making the jump from more client servicing to advisory would be greatly appreciated.

Ideally I’d love to make my way towards either an Advisor or Strategist.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Do CFP CPA CFA and MBA make that big of a difference in the RIA world? I’ve seen very successful individuals with all 3 and without any at all

What’s the best way to make the jump from trust administrator to wealth strategist? I’m an attorney and trust administrator but I don’t have enough experience on the planning side, dealing with life insurance and business succession planning to get a decent paying wealth strategist job. What certifications would be best to bridge that gap? CTFA, CFP, CWS? Bring a lawyer, I always poopoo-ed things like CWS that seemed salesy and like something that only matters to Cannon.

I’ve been in the industry for 23+ years, 16+ of those spent as a Producing Branch Manager. I hold S7, S63, S66, S24 and I’ve completed the education for the CFP (need to pass the exam). I excel in relationship building and providing exceptional service. I’ve only been on the full-service side for the past 2 years and my book of managed money is about $10M, with another $10M+ being self-directed by clients. I’d love to find an RIA job, what type of role would be suggested?

I posted this on the succession page, but I am really interested in purchasing a woman-owned practice (being a woman myself and acquiring my mother’s practice in the 90’s). If anyone is interested or know anyone who is, please pass this along! Thank you.

Hi fellow ladies in finance! Curious to know: has anyone seriously contemplated leaving the industry for similar reasons? I have over 10 years experience working for various firms, now as a CFP but I'm really feeling the burnout. I've worked hard to be in this position, but honestly...I'm tired of working really hard to put plans together and help people that do not do what they said they they want to do, and instead we are nagging clients to get shit done. The things, as planners, we cannot do

Need advice: I work in-house, report to the COO. I have 5 yrs of exp and just barely started this job. The COO is a nightmare. She has already made negative comments about four other employees, not related to what we were discussing. She micromanages everything down to telling me how to write informal emails. She is belittling and disrespectful and I have now learned that everyone else in the org feels this way. I’ve always had great relationships with bosses and I’m at a loss. What do I do?!
