If the future of finance is software, then I’m thinking CPAs aren’t part of that future (at least not for a while). What’s the crypto/DeFi CPA? Does that exist yet? Here’s an animated chart that shows how COVID-19 cases and deaths have grown globally compared to their causes of death like fire, influenza, and malaria over the same time frame. The timeline begins on January 1, 2020, and COVID-19 starts at the very bottom of the chart with zero deaths.

Before I hear the you shouldn’t travel Bc of covid, I agree with you. However this is a family emergency that we need to travel overseas to a third world country to deal with family business and taxes. If we don’t go in feb, we lose a lot more
Just leaving the EU for a similar reason. You can test in the country you’re in.
Rising Star
I mean, you should do research to understand where you can go in Jamaica to get a test. In the third world country I am in now I can go to specific laboratories in the city and get PCR test results within 24 hours. Was the same when I travelled to the Middle East around Thanksgiving. During these times, you can’t be lazy about doing research. It’s a simple google search for ‘PCR test jamaica’ and see what comes back.
If you are going for family business, wouldn’t you have friends or family there who can advice you better than us?
Just google it. There is so much travel between Jamaica and the US that you clear US customs in Jamaica I believe, so I’m sure they have it covered. I’m sitting in Paris rn waiting for my connection to India. Airlines verify you have a negative PCR test before boarding in the US. As far as return to the US, this is a new rule, but other countries have had this for a while so there are likely facilities for testing.
Don't you also need a negative test to get in Jamaica?
Rising Star
Define “third world” - what country?
Just remember the US has some of the worst COVID numbers in the world. Not the other way around. And if you go anywhere and you follow strict protocols on the ground, then you should test negative. But you cannot let your guard down for a second. Not with this new variant showing up everywhere.
Enthusiast
Is there anyone you can stay with in the country you're traveling to? Or a safe hotel to stay at while you wait for covid test results?
Would not be too concerned (as long as you not part of the high risk pop) If we are surviving in the US you should be ok in Jamaica. Get a nice hotel and enjoy the weather while you are there.
I am overseas right now for family reasons. Travel was safe, airports are empty. Just make sure you have your PCR test results with you taken within 72 hours prior to your arrivap depending on the arrival protocol for the country you're going to.
The new PCR test requirement for re-entry back to the US will start next week so I will not have to deal with it since I'm returning before that. However make sure you have asked around in the destination country on where you can go to take a PCR test with quick results. Most places should offer results back in 24 hours.
Good luck
Get your return test appointment (at your destination) scheduled before you leave - the demand at some destinations is going to overload the testing providers.
Are you staying in a hotel? I’d call and ask if they are going to be offering testing. If not, call around and find a resort that is offering testing to cater to international visitors.
The US is accepting rapid tests, not just PCR tests. I think you can find a way to get one. A bunch of hotels are offering them now too, including in developing countries. Another option, particularly if you live in SoCal, would be to fly into Tijuana, Mexico instead and take the land border to the US. You’re not required to present covid test results if you arrive at a land border crossing.
