Question on changing roles: a friend of mine did not pass the final round at BCG for an associate position, due to not having as much relevant experience as the other candidates. However, they are interested in him and will likely offer him a research position. Does anybody know whether it is likely that you can switch from a research role to a consulting role? Very interested to learn if anyone has experienced this :)

H1B transfer question with 60 day grace period: I was laid off and got offer from a staffing agency that will initiate my H1B transfer immediately under standard processing. I accepted the offer because of the grace period but I would still continue to look for a full time job. Has anyone ever asked for candid feedback after not making it further in the interview process, then receive it to find out it was essentially a fabrication/false? This has happened to me a few times now where I’ve read something like “candidate didn’t discuss solutions architecting experience,” and either that’s literally my job, I discussed it at length, or the interviewer made no point to even ask.
