ZS principal is the same as partner at other firms. Principals own the company. There are no levels above principal, just rotating leadership roles.
It’s a new space, if you are coming in as a Principal then I would assume you are getting hired for your Rolodex. As with any new space in our company, there are some growing pains with staffing - you need people who can do the work, and it’s somewhat different from 80% of what ZS does, so the general staffing lottery may or may not serve you well. To get dedicated resources who work only on your projects you would have to recruit them (either internal or external) and keep them busy on projects consistently. If you join, building the practice area should be one of your top priorities. FWIW Principals have the highest satisfaction at our firm.
Because they don’t have to adhere to their own bullshit culture
