What if you don’t have an interest in pursuing those opportunities you speak of? I have been looking into rev analyst jobs as well because it sounds more interesting to me and I am not looking to become a controller. It’s not always about prestige and making the most money for everyone.
Looking to leave as a new senior into an experienced role where I can pivot more into finance/fp&a. No way in hell do I want to stay in PA and be unhappy until then.
Can’t argue with that. Make sure the new company has room for upward mobility. Good luck.
Good luck! Definitely continue pursuing your dreams. Money and prestige are good but are not always a solution to happy life.
Yes, upward mobility is the most important
Revenue analyst sounds like it's not all about number crunching
I've been applying the past month, finance/analyst roles is not as easy as you're competing with people with this background
Good luck to you!!
Didn't even know that was a job
In my opinion, don’t do that. You start at a big 4 to get a job where you can make decisions (controller and above) and not to crunch numbers.
And thank you!
Any time ;)
I probably used too derogatory of a term to describe the rev analyst position. Of course it is more than number crunching. However, in comparison to other opportunities available to big4 alumni (if you stick around long enough and gain good experience), it may be on the weaker end of the spectrum..
Pwc 2, that's exactly where I'm at. So I'm looking for more accounting based roles that may get good enough to finance to eventually fully pivot. It's possible
Yeah same, looking into accounting roles where analytical tasks are included, then transition. I've seen a lot of people on linkedin who managed to do the same.
Thanks you too!
This role doesn't seem ideal with new rev rec standard required in a few years
If you know 606, a revenue manager job is a great spot to go. You still need analysts to review the contracts and verify output, even if using a revenue management system to automate the process.
