Anyone use a curved monitor? Pros/cons? I won’t use it for gaming, but there is a sweet 35in one on major sale today. Thinking about using the WFH subsidy on that and keyboard/mouse. Other good monitor recommendations welcome!

Yes, I’ve got a 34” ultrawide monitor and love it. I previously had two 20/22” screens, so while my current setup isn’t technically as wide as with my previous screens, it does feel much bigger, and cleaner, simply by not having the screen split right down the middle. 10/10 recommend.

It is curved. At first I was unsure, but I enjoy it now. Basically helps my eyes stay consistently focused when panning across the screen and also makes everything feel equally close, if that makes sense..

The primary use case for curved monitors is gaming since it improves peripheral vision. Downsides are that they’re not as thin, often have restricted ergonomics / range of motion, and typically aren’t capable of portrait orientation. Apart from the novelty factor, I’d recommend sticking with a high-end 4K panel with good ergonomics if you’re going to use this predominantly for work.

Agree with D1. Have the same monitor, can’t recommend enough.

🐠 Help me out please. Need a new job that is WFH/travel split. I could report to a DC area office if needed. 2 YOE mechanical engineering and 2 YOE consulting. Happy to chat with anyone who is hiring/referring in order to find the correct role and have all of my application documents ready to roll. Lots of interests but would like generic MC, PE, Ops, or a generalist role. TIA

Hello everyone, I will be joining EY India by the end of this week in the PAS Workforce Advisory. The HR told me that it's going to be WFH for some time and wasn't very clear on when the offices might resume. Can anyone please give me a pessimistic and optimistic estimation of when we might be required to move back to office? I need to move to a different city, so it would be really helpful if you guys could support me with this input. Thanks

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Should I be as irritated as I am about this? My small agency is old fashioned. For instance, we only worked remote for the 3 mandated months in 2020. I developed a sore throat yesterday so I thought I should work remote today, to not spread anything contagious. I asked if I could work from home. Boss says: "You're right about not being too careful. I might have to have you take a sick day instead of working though, just because I need to be careful about the precedent." Seriously?

Giving notice soon for in-house role, and thinking about giving more than 2 weeks. Is this dumb? I'm getting ramped up on work on very small teams, and things are being planned in advance for clients with my schedule in mind, but I know I won't be here for that. The split will be an amicable one, and I have no reason to think they would fire me on the spot (big "culture" emphasis here), although of course that's a concern. Anyone navigated this before and have any insight?
