Hi all, I'm trying to break into sales coming from a technical background. It's been very difficult as a lot of recruiters only see the technical aspects of my previous role, even though I've added in some sales aspects from those roles. Any advice on how to break past the initial view of my resume/past technical experiences to get interviews?

I was interviewed for a perticular customer, which went well and also received an offer. Few days before of my joining date, i came to know that the technology stack from customer got changed and customer had no requirement for which i was hired. However parent company still hired me and now they're in process of allocating me in some other clients. Sometimes i feel insecure about this situation. How to cope up with such cases?

A lot of knowledge on here so asking for some help. It’s my partner’s birthday and I’ve no idea what to buy him. He’s a watch fanatic - Pateks (sports and dress), Audemars (sports and dress), Rolex (sports), Omega (sports).

I’m obviously not buying him a watch for his birthday (in his dreams!) but any idea for some good accessories? He’s already got a PP watch winder, and has bought multiple nice straps for the dress watches. I’m completely lost.

What is a typical paycut expected for a midlevel in biglaw going to an in-house legal department (NYC corporate)?

What exit opportunities exist for international arbitration? I don’t want to litigate, and am a non-American so government jobs (which seem to be what my colleagues are exiting into) aren’t an option for me. I don’t ever see myself making partner (nor do I want to), and I feel totally stuck.

I’m a fifth year associate who is ready to get out of litigation (and private practice altogether). I’ve only ever done professional malpractice (legal, med mal, etc) and feel like those skills will not transfer as well if I had done transactional work. I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I’d love to work in a law school setting as a counselor or something but I can’t afford the pay cut. *sigh* Does anyone feel like being a lawyer is just doing homework all day? I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. Is it a waste of time to try and make a move to big law with such few years of experience?
