If only institutional investors knew about these simple ways to beat the market!

funnysmart

I bought Mötley Fool newsletter this year. I think it’s alright depending on what your investing strategy is, your risk tolerance and how actively you like to trade. They don’t really introduce new stocks that often, more often they simply put out buy signals for stocks they recommended buying months/years ago but that they think will be hot in the coming year. It will definitely put some stocks on your radar that you probably have never heard of, now whether that’s worth a $100 annual subscription probably depends on your portfolio size and whether or not you’ll actually use their investing advice/strategy. I’m a few months in and still deciding whether I’ll stay, or whether they’re just going to keep throwing out buy signals for some over bought tech stocks they recommended 3 years ago when I wasn’t a subscriber😂 (Shopify, wix, etc)

Nope.

I like their newsletter. I’m in the market for the long haul and invest mostly in index funds, but this year I decided to invest in some individual stocks just for fun. My Motley Fool recommendations are doing great! They recommended buying Tesla back in the beginning of the year when it was around $850/share. Ka-Ching, thank you!

For any real estate investors

22 years old and currently focused on using my left over income to invest and pay off my debt. I am set to pay off my college loans by next year and, when I do, I want to look into investing into real estate. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get into/learn more about real estate investing? Or how I can have enough knowledge on the topic to be able to invest wisely when the time comes?

Any books? youtubers? etc. How did you all learn about it?

Im considering investing in a rental property. Would prefer something I can use and enjoy but still leverage as a vacation rental. We’re a skier/snowboarding family and would love to have a home we can use in the winter with lakefront/lake access for summer use. Does it make financial sense? Generally, can you cover annual costs for a year round vacation rental or I am more likely to sink money into it with no real ROI?

When to sell at a loss?

I’m 26 and have a fair chunk of my NW tied to Cloudflare - a tech stock that I believe has the opportunity to 3x and become a $100b+ company over the long term. Similarly, I have a lot in cloud computing etf - WCLD.

Given short term rotation out of growth stocks, I’m confused on what to do. I think we still have some time before growth stocks bottom out, but do I sell?

I would consider myself a “long only” investor, but am unsure what to do given my lack of diversif

I’ve been paying really aggressively on my private loans since the federal pause and I checked today and I now only owe 2800 in private. Pretty sure I owe 11k in fed & I qualify for the 10k. Honestly trying not to cry from sheer relief.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
