I have a question on 401k loans. How is the principal repayment reinvested? Monthly? When the loan is fully paid? Do they cash out that portion of my investments or just use then as collateral?

22 years old and currently focused on using my left over income to invest and pay off my debt. I am set to pay off my college loans by next year and, when I do, I want to look into investing into real estate. My parents are dependent on me. My 62 yo dad and 57yo mom do some part time work and makes $1000/mon. Dad has some health complications like diabetes, high bp, genetic heart issues, liver problems etc. Does it make sense to get a life insurance for him - 20 yr term, $1M coverage. I have a brokerage account with 7k in it, split 70% VOO 30% SCHF. I now have an additional 11k I can add - how should I allocate it?
