I’m vaccine hesitant. It’s powerful medicine and I don’t just take them because someone manufactures and markets them. Early on, as the RNA-based vaxxes were being developed, I was super nervous and said I’d wait 3-6 months and just keep my social distance and mask up. I kept up with the research and changed my mind pretty easily after balancing everything in the big picture.
If she is open to reading research you can show her the studies that debunk this. Lots of studies point to infertility impacts of environmental chemicals and foods that are disrupting hormones, but I bet she’s not worried about those.
I have a sister who refuses to as well, and she’s a first responder. But she thinks she’s some kind of Teflon Don because she’s been exposed repeatedly, likely had mild infections, and believes it’s her good genes and health that make the vax unnecessary. 😞

Only temporarily, and we still don’t know how long immunity lasts. This virus and pandemic are somewhat unprecedented but built on a great science and supply chain foundation, given everything we’ve faced. I am in awe of the medical professionals and researchers etc keeping us safe.
A couple of things that have helped-
The vaccine isn’t anything crazy. It’s basically just 3D printing. The tech is really cool, but it’s not doing anything weird or dangerous- it’s just 3D printing the bit your immune system needs to recognize. Also- why does she think all the rich people were fighting to get the vaccine? It’s not some conspiracy- for all their talk, Trump is vaccinated. Tucker Carlson is vaccinated.

Do you really think hundreds of thousands of scientists, doctors, and health professionals are in on some scam to hurt the American population to make pharma companies money? Seriously? I don’t know 3 people who can keep a secret.
Aside from the conspiracy theories. I think just a general source of concern is the fact that these manufacturers are entirely immune from legal liability. Remove that immunity and I think you pop that herd immunity %

My SO is in her clinical rotations now and told me this yesterday. People ask for the vaccine once they have to begin intubation.
Once intubated, patients have a roughly 50% chance of survival. If they don’t rebound within a week, hospital staff basically wait for you to die so they can free up the bed.

I hate to say it, but I agree. The chyrons bias the viewer towards a certain outcome, and their journalistic integrity is poor. CNN was happy to negatively portray the Covington Catholic school kids, and they failed to firewall Chris Cuomo when his brother Andrew was mired in controversy for his COVID response and pattern of sexual harassment.
Axios is now my choice journalism outlet, no contest.

See if you can find some stats on the number of vaccinated women who are pregnant. There should be some numbers on that because we are about 6 months in on the vaccines. Clearly it’s not causing infertility if women are still getting pregnant.
If you consider the clinical trials there’s even more data than that. While pregnant women weren’t included in the trials that started last March, when your have tens of thousands of humans involved a certain number of pregnancies will always occur. So there are healthy six month old babies alive today whose parents were part of the trials.

Pause for reflection: what sort of dystopian cyberpunk reality do we live in where a disease rages across this planet, humanity develops a cure in a year, and while the wealthy urbanites take it, everyone else doesn’t and continues to die. But the catch is it’s not because they can’t get it — they don’t want it!
Maybe the galaxy brain play is to tell people they’re not deserving of it and the elites want to instead restrict access to let the disease kill them off. 🤷♀️
I think if the legal immunity was lifted, which is protecting manufacturers from any liability, we would reach the needed threshold rather quickly. That is a big red flag and I have not seen any good justification or agnostic explanation to the contrary.
Is she otherwise conservative or just hesitant about the COVID vax?
If she’s conservative point her to some conservative pro-vax sources.
