Mid-tier firm
Quality of work and people are much lower
Sucks about your shitty M, sounds like it’s time for a change
Did an internship and did not like the firm at all
Several people from a client left for Grant Thornton and they were bottom of the barrel types, small sample but significant.
Aw, these answers are such a bummer !! I'm trying to figure out if there is any way in hell I can find a firm that pays well, has interesting social impact-type projects, and has decent work-life balance. I'm either going to end up taking a 50% pay cut somewhere to be happy or selling my soul 😫
If you like the role go for it, the people I knew were not Allstars, but they were nice people.
No, this is helpful for sure. I appreciate it!
@OP Deloitte has interesting social impact projects, we have a whole practice for just that. What are you doing now at D?
DD1 - I actually have been lucky to be on some pretty cool projects; I'm just fairly underpaid and those projects have had pretty terrible leadership. It's hard not to feel slighted on my salary and also not get super frustrated by the alternating emergencies/crazy hours.
Are you in fed consulting?
Yep!
What level and how much are you making?
S&O SC2 with a masters and 7 years experience making $90k
Okay so yes that’s low for a SC even in fed. Unfortunately D doesn’t really care about non top MBA masters. You could go to grant Thornton for a 2 years and then boomerang back for the pay bump and maybe M
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I did everything "right" last year by Deloitte standard but got screwed by my manager and got a 3.... which meant my salary bump was mediocre. Same thing happened the year before (to be fair, it was the same manager but I figured they had changed and would actually give honest feedback the 2nd yr). And I had really impactful firm contributions with the "higher ups"... which they said didn't matter if I had a mediocre client snapshot. So, I'm tired of feeling under appreciated, overworked, and underpaid :/
Thanks DD1!
