Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

I would pivot this into a way to showcase your brief writing abilities. Create a kick ass brief and explain how you would brief the designer.
In last convo with the recruiter, they said based on applicants it’s becoming obvious they’ll need to hire a separate designer role, too - and yet their work sample test is one part writing test and another part “creative communication” test (they want me to make a “snackable,” creative communication that’s visually exciting).
I’m not a designer! Recruiter knows this, and seems to know that dual expertise is a unicorn piece of talent. So how do I handle this work sample? Should I just conceptualize the creative idea and convey the art direction I’d give to a designer? It’d be a losing approach - they obviously want the actual communication output - but I’m not sure what else to do here.
I would follow up with recruiter saying you received the test and wanted to know what the expectation is on the design since they are aware you are not a designer. Perhaps a mood board or existing examples will do. But def confirm expectation. Good luck!
