I like industry because for the most part I have a work life balance. Wage experience is all relative....
No simple yes or no to this question. Culture and flexibility will vary by company and even by team within the same company, depending on the size. In many cases you can have a 45hr a week routine and keep your job, but climbing the ladder takes additional commitment. Clients you are working with are likely those in meaningful positions at their company and that comes with a cost. To provide you with some more concrete examples, I worked at PwC as an assurance associate and got staffed on 12/31 and 4/30 clients and worked insane hours almost year round. I left for a senior associate sec role at a medium public company and never worked more than 50 hours in one week.
Yes. In 4 yrs of working at a big 4, I averaged 65 hr weeks in busy season and 50 hr weeks rest of the year.
Now at an F500, I work a straight 9-5 most of the time. A bad day for me is if I have to work until like 7, and that only happens a couple times each qtr.
Not much of a change in salary. My F500 industry job is remote so I moved from a VHCOL city to a MCOL city, I’m doing a lot better financially now.
It depends. There are outliers in public and in industry. However, the median and mena in industry is less hours.
