Are my expectations out of line? I make $82k (Los Angeles, experienced senior in tax, B4) and I'm looking to transition to private. All jobs I'm finding are $80-90k salary range. I keep hearing that I should be able to score a 20% raise moving from PA to private, but I'm not seeing it. Should i keep looking or reevaluate what I'm looking for?

Can’t decide between reporting + technical roles vs corporate accounting roles. Coming out of audit and I like both aspects. Has anyone tried both sides and have any insights? Does one of these have higher salary potential? Does corporate accounting give you a higher chance of reaching a controller position since you’re actually in the GL, whereas technical + reporting will probably have you in a specialized group in larger companies?
