Are there many careers in supply chain that require a lot of travel?

Supply chain requires frequent travels especially in the distribution and manufacturing departments. Some other positions requires travel like once every 3 or 4 months.

Yes. Currently every company’s Supply Chain with vast network of distribution channels and consumer base spread to every corner of the country require their personnel travel. It's a sort of mandatory.

Yes, if you're looking to travel, the supply chain industry is for you. You will be traveling ALOT. Especially nationwide. It's fun in theory but can get exhausting

Strategic sourcing/Procurement. You'll see suppliers frequently at their corporate offices and manufacturing facilities, as well as at trade exhibitions and other events. Traveling can quickly become tiresome, so beware!

For businesses with significant construction projects like oil and gas, infrastructure, high-tech manufacturing, etc., Project Procurement is an option. Travelers are always in demand.

Purchasing and sourcing typically involve some travel. Instead of asking what career you should pursue, I believe you should be asking which industry.

Global Sourcing for Retailers You visit production locations including China, India, Southeast Asia, and so on. You'll eat well and stay in excellent hotels, but keep in mind that you're working and that these are developing nations, so it won't be the same as going on vacation and lounging by the beach.

Many people who don't travel for business find it glamorous, but since I'm employed, I spend most of my time in meetings or at convention centers. When people learn that you go to Europe on business, they become envious, but all I actually saw was the convention center, a client's office, and a hotel room.

Yes. There are actually a lot of jobs in supply chain that require traveling especially if you are in the forwarding side.

Yes. This is the perfect industry if you are looking for roles that require a lot of travel. You can choose forwarding or distribution.

It’s dependent on your Comapny. The Comapny I worked for would send the Sales Director to deal with important clients across Asia to keep up good relations or to strike new deals. The Supply Chain department stayed at HQ. However, that was a smaller company that could only afford 1-2 people to send at a time.
