If you’re a CD that’s strategic, you’ll make a lot more money than if you’re a strategist that’s creative. In the long run, creatives make more money.
True but strategy has more longevity and options - client side, consultancy, startup, etc
Totally agree with the above! I recommend taking a strategy course online and starting to learn to understand the field better so you can build strategy thinking into you creative work
Why do you want to move? As a Strat Creative seems way more fun
Stay creative but find a shop where you feel more valued strategically. Creative is a much richer role with more tangible meaning to the work.
imo working in strategy feels a lot like working in creative but worse. Strategists suffer from the same issues creatives do but are under a bigger microscope and have more shitty client interactions.

I started off wanting to be a copywriter but got into Account back when it was strategic. After the British Invasion 😉 I moved into Strategy. My advice is to try Strategy if you find the right agency/client situation that will value your creative lens. Otherwise, as the other commenters suggested, continue to bring a strategic vision to your creative thinking. Regardless of your title or department, your POV will be an asset.
