As a first year director, I think I’m ready to hang up my consulting boots and explore other opps. However, as more of a generalist with no deep expertise in one particular area, I am having trouble deciding where to focus. Outside of Corporate Strategy, what are some other exit opps/roles, you’d recommend without taking a huge comp hit? (Im currently at ~$400k, all-in) I have no IT/Digital experience so not sure if Big Tech will be easy to get into.

400k as a first year director?! These US salaries are crazy! You need to share the love with people across the pond!

like

Even if that is true, several nuances ( purchasing power for 1$ vs 1£, cost of living even in this inflationary climate, general trends on WLB in the US vs UK etc.) the point being the grass may seem greener but there’s other factors/ preferences to consider than just total comp.

I went back to industry after 2.5 years MBB, pay was better (about 300k though, not 400). Had a great time, but promotions are so slow that I e decided to go back to consulting. Better $, more interesting work, more autonomy. The better WLB in corporate is a myth IMHO because if you want to progress and really make a mark, you still put in the hours

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Suggestions?

Currently 25 y/o making 70k/year in Boston. I grew up pretty poor and I have minimal financial education. A lot of my salary now goes towards helping my parents get out of debt. My parents are no longer able to live on their own, so considering selling my grandmas house where they live (maybe 550k), paying off their mortgage (100k) and buying a duplex (between them they make about 55k/year). Is buying a two family home a good investment ? How much can I afford to spend on a new house?

Hello Folks,
Good Morning.

Can anyone help me as to how can I start having experience in SAP. All my professional years I haven't got a chance to have a hands on experience but want to get an understanding of SAP.
Can anyone please help me with the same ?

One of my friend is having 1 offer in hand and she has signed offer letter with agreement for joining that company only and not to accept any offer from any other company ( even hike from current company ), what will happen if she deny to join that company? In agreement it describes that if candidate joins or accepts another offer then candidate will have to pay two salaries as per the offer letter.

I’m not naive or fresh out of law school, but I’m at a point where I’m saying to myself “Why can’t I have it all?” I’ve been offered a job for more pay and less hours and I keep thinking to myself, what’s the catch? I know people will say no promotion potential or that’s not how it works…but what if it could? What if you make yourself valuable by still setting your boundaries? Why would we resent someone who has that opportunity?

Let’s talk comp — I’m a remote head of recruitment with 6 years of experience being paid 75K base plus bonuses that got me to 90K this year. I’m interviewing for other jobs, and have a potential offer at $130K base. Any idea what the market is like? Is seems like anything between 72K and $250K is possible. I have no idea what to ask companies for.
