I was childless once, and I supported my colleagues with caring (not just kids) responsibilities when they had other urgent demands on their time. Now it is my turn.
Yes, my child is more important than some young colleague’s call with their man-bun consultant or their larping group. I have served my time, now I need to be allowed to clock-off between 5-8pm (before logging on and staying late) or occasionally be disrupted because of a childcare nightmare.
I hate the whole ‘my time is as important too’. The thing is, unless you are also caring for another human being, it literally is not as important. You have free reign over how to spend most of your evenings and weekends. Don’t tell me you need more time! I won’t have a weekend to myself for 20 years. I don’t call you during your lovely long lie-in on Sunday. Don’t call me during bath time with my kid. 😤🖕
I feel like there's becoming a big divide between those with kids and those without kids - it's far more stark than ever before. Feel like I get less sympathy or any kind of support because I 'chose' kids and therefore, I get what I deserve. Idk how I feel about this now
